Dear Santa: I promise I'll be "good" next year, so can I get one of these, please?

Lunde have you tried the Old Rip from the decanter yet? I'm picking mine up tomorrow thanks to Mr. Van Winkle. Let's see pics of the decanter mine will suck compared to yours.

I'll have to try these. I am a scotch guy, but willing to try something else. this one here is at my local store and I have been staring at it for a year now. I have considered making them a ridiculously lowball offer.

Holy crap I just "googled" it. Retail is $12k and has sold at auction for more. Only 420 made. I couldn't even make a low enough lowball offer to make it reasonable.

My mom received yesterday via FedEx the set that I ordered for my dad as his Christmas gift, and it is now resting under their Christmas tree with a bow on top (it apparently came in a plain box, so it didn't need any wrapping paper). Mine is scheduled to be delivered today.

I snagged a bottle of the ORVW 10 Year 90 Proof stuff on Wednesday. I found a local place with a few in stock, priced at $27.99 each. The only downside was their limit of one bottle per customer. It was K&L Wine Merchants in Redwood City (and no, "K & L" does not stand for Ken Lunde, but at least it is easy to remember for me), which is between here (San Jose) and the San Francisco Int'l Airport. I mention the airport, because I took my wife and daughter there on Wednesday morning, for their flight to Japan. I was able to pick up the ORVW bottle on the way back to work (in San Jose).

Okay, I honestly don't know much about this as I don't drink, but is this what we are talking about ?

I was so interested I went to check it out.

Yeah, the normal pappy doesn't come in that fancy pants bottle. The 20 year old is pretty awesome, so I'd love to try some of that 23. And I'd definitely save the decanter - it's too cool to get rid of.

No photo (yet), but I have #303 of 1200. I agree. This was worth it, even it may take some time before I encounter a life event worthy of opening it. I am thinking either my parents' 50th wedding anniversary in 2011, or our oldest son's college graduation, which is likely during the same year.

Just wanted to bring this one back up to thank ya'll for introducing me to the RVW family.... enjoying another glass of the 20 year and it was well worth the money
