Death chat begins......

Been eyeing a Ruger GP100 357mag at the local sporting goods for awhile, I would like to try a double action but want to get one in a 3" barrel.

I have a Smith model 60 Stainless steel 5 shot with a 3 inch barrel. It's a J frame though but it carries well.

Am I wrong or doesn't the 460 make the 44 mag look like a 357?

It absolutely does. However, despite the strong caliber and recoil the gun is scary accurate for a revolver. It has an effective range of 200 yards with 2-4 inch groupings. Obviously with a scope it's more accurate but with the stock sights it does better than fine. As far as I know it's still the worlds highest velocity revolver. It shoots 3 calibers 45 long colt, 454 casull, and 460 mag. I highly recommend anyone to check this out and research it extensively before purchasing a S&W 500

I've got a Ruger 357 convertible. Single action .357 with a separate 9mm cylinder.

Didn't know the 460 would shoot those other rounds. Just using factory loadings it would be a versatile gun.

That is what I want the GP100 for, I can shove it in a jacket pocket, instead of having to pack my XD40 in an IWB, you know for all those times when your just running to the store in sweatpants to grab a gallon of milk.

I just wanted the 500 S&W for the sheer size of the round, I wasn't aware that the 460 would shoot all of that. I did know that you can shoot 454 casull, 45 LC, and .410 out of a 454 though.

Lol -- I wish our problems here in Los Angeles were that minor.

Don't get me wrong -- I love the S&W 500 :)

I'm not even going to start diving into what's banned here (33 round mags included) -- but after a few tests at the range a few LEO friends of mine determined that you would need a 10 mm round to consistently break through all the reinforced car windows that "some" people love to instal on their cars . . Lol just saying

Wouldn't the Smith be a lighter gun? I know you would be giving up a round, but a speed loader or speed strip could help with that. I have two speed strips and an ammo wallet that I carry when I've got the Smith and going to work. That would give me 35 (I think) rounds total if I needed them.

Umm still going in California lol

44mags are great!

Cannot decide between Smith 629 or 327 for backpacking. Nothing too big and scary out here. Black Bears maybe around 250.

WHY is it when someone is given a DWI ticket they say "They don't drink"! Then when you tell them it was for drug intoxication they say "They don't do drugs" and then DEMAND to talk to the arresting officer. I HATE people!

Either one probably work fine, short of Big Bears I wouldn't sweat it too much. Get the one that feels good to you.

The past 20 years of politics has taught us all that there is no accountability for any of our actions.

Me too bro . . . Booz + Coffee = continued inebriated forum chat

We have black bears, mountain lions, and annoying chihuahuas -- that's why I have different platforms

Still need to get myself an AR, seems when I have money an AR has never been at the top of the list of stuff I need to get.
