Death Chat!!

Bad acting, ugh. I like the concept though, so I'll see it through. I like it well enough for now, we'll see.

New camping/backpacking gear, Snowpeak Gigapower stove. Nothing fancy but should work for me.

Sweet! I've been looking replace my MSR Pocket Rocket with the new MicroRocket.

I almost got the MicroRocket but went with the SP Gigapower because I like the flame distribution and cup/pot support better. At least according to the reviews, the MicroRocket's flame (like the PocketRocket) is concentrated in the center and makes a hot spot, where as the Gigapower is distributed more like a home stove. I just thought that might be better for heating up a cup of chili or beans. Everything else seems about equal.

Yeah, for me, no matter: I usually only boil water when out. I also like that the Microrocket is lighter (always aiming towards UL end of the spectrum) and more compact so it fits in my boiling cup/mug better. I do like the 4 pot supports of the Gigapower vs. the 3 on the Microrocket though, not that the 3 supports has been a problem on my PocketRocket. The last time I looked into stoves, it seemed that the Gigapower and Microrocket were pretty much best bang for the buck, so you can't go wrong with either  Just depends on what your priorities are and how you eat.

I'm planning to. It sounds like a concept similar to the one in the Dies the Fire series.

Actually got Dies the Fire from the library a couple days ago. I think the guy who wrote it must be heavily into SCA and Wiccan stuff. Probably only going to read the first book, I dont like the idea of bullets not working along with everything else.

Oh yeah, big time. The earlier books in the series are better. The later ones are... eh. Dialogue is a little unrealistic, but nice story depth and characters. Fun read, but not on the level of something like Game of Thrones.

I just realized I haven't posted the pics here from my other backpacking/outdoor trips this year. I'll link a few later. Had a really fun backpacking trip in sequoia np in July.

Bring it to the next get together

What's are some of the best bang-for-your-buck pistols/revolvers? I want to save up to get one and training for home defense, but I'd take it along if SHTF. So concealability isn't the primary concern, but it's definitely a plus.
