Hey Ban and bay area peoples, just wanted to say hello from Mexico...after about a month's worth of unexpected delays in LA I finally got myself down here last Tuesday. So far things are going great, except for the fact that I find myself missing my bigger knives already! I opted to leave them behind for fear of confiscation or paying huge bribes since Busse knives with edges honed by Ban and Nate have a certain bling factor that I figured Federales might find irresistible...luckily I have a couple being shipped down here (including a scrapyard 1311 for the jungle) over the next few weeks. My folders, horton necker, and Bantang kiridashi made it down here fine so I at least have some nice steel to keep myself busy with. One Ban finishes my drop point EDC (hint hint

I'll be covered in the fixed blade department.
Overall the drive was surprisingly smooth. Easy border crossing, and only $60 total spent on bribe money, plus 200 Pesos for a speeding ticket I got my last day...the hairest part was an night time emergency lane change at 90mph with a big rig to my right, and the highway dropping off about a foot beyond the 12" shoulder - honestly still trying to wrap my head around how I and my 4runner are still alive after that!
I haven't gone exploring into the jungle yet as I'm still getting settled in and reconnect to the people I met here in July, but here are a couple quick pics for now...forgive me, I only had my Mexico phone with me so these pics aren't nearly as good quality as the ones I'll be sharing in the near future:
Driving into town after a few days on the road alone - it was a pretty huge relief to see this as I finally turned into town:
Quick beach shot...the surf here is amazing:
Every day at sunset, a bunch of people from town head to the beach to celebrate the day's end...a few days ago, I noticed a bunch of people gathering at this one spot near the water and came upon this little guy:
There were a couple hundred freshly hatched sea turtles making their way out to the ocean for the first time, and yes they moved surprisingly quick! Was pretty awesome to see...
This was what the sky looked like that day...I thought it pretty cool
Ban - thanks so much for that little kiridashi! it's been getting a lot of use and is one of my favorite blades I have down here...people also seem to love the handle wrap and overall design, so good on you

just a heads up, I'll email you about my order in the next couple weeks...
Anyway, that's all I got for now. I'll be sure to post pics of the jungle, knife stuff, and knife stuff in the jungle as I continue to get settled in. I don't know if I'll be able to get any pics of this but I got invited to a Huichol ceremony in December and will be eating some sacred cactus with the natives...should be epic!
Hope you all are doing well and be sure to chop something good for me at the next get-together
