+1

I wanted to add my own 1 cent, but didn't want to start anything on Ban's forum. I already contributed enough starting the thread.

Well either way, on to the next!!

Messed up my Samsung Captivate phone at the pool party in Vegas. I'm a big fan of the Samsung Galaxy Android phones but the new iPhone should be pretty sweet too. Hopefully we hear more about it soon.

I'm on my second Galaxy S Vibrant (GT-i9000m). The first one took a swim in the bilge of a sailboat for over an hour.... It wasn't too happy when it came out.

They may work after a while. Like a week or so. A friend of mine dunked his Incredible and it started acting normal about a week later. I've also read that you can toss it in the drier but I would research on that more before doing it.

My phone is dead haha, although I've heard the best trick to dry a wet phone is submerging it in dry rice.

Sorry about it being flat out no go. Rice seems like a good idea. Absorb all the excess moisture. I have to remember that.

Tried the dry rice trick with my gf's camera after I dropped it in the ocean. Don't know if it helped or not, but the camera never recovered. In my research, these were the best tips I came across: 1) don't turn on the electronic after you've dunked it, leave it off and remove the battery and cards 2) a rinse with deionized water might be helpful, if you've dropped it in something that might have salts or other chemicals that'd leave a residue on internal components 3) store it in an airtight container with a dessicant (poor man's = dry rice) in a decently warm spot, leave it alone for a week or so before trying it out.

Good luck getting a new phone!

Seems like a month for misfortune... I'm pretty sure I lost my BT Ti Necker on this past weekend's abalone diving trip. I believe I had it up on the roof of the car while prepping dive gear. When I took the gear off the car, I must have left the necker on the roof as we drove to the beach. Probably didn't see it due to the angle of vision and how thin the knife and sheath are. My passenger and I heard a clatter as we pulled out of the campground, but we thought it was just something shifting/falling in the pile of crap in the back of the jeep. I have a feeling it was actually the necker falling off the car:( I'm still hoping I'll find it mistakenly put away somewhere, but so we'll see. Ugh.

Aww that sucks! I'm sure we've all be in situations where we thought we lost a good knife..I hope yours turns up somewhere!

I cleaned mine up as best I could but the corrosion was really bad. I dried it out in dry rice and all the usual tricks. After a few days I turned it on. Lo and behold it worked! (ish) After two weeks the touchscreen died. It's now a brick.

The repair guys I brought it to told me that water damage is like a cancer. The corrosion spreads through the board slowly killing off parts until the phone is unusable.

haha iphone5 should be around the corner, can't wait!

on a different note, work has been KILLING me! Expecting some exciting things to be happening soon!

Well, I've looked everywhere. Looks like I lost it after all :( Weak sauce. Gonna have to get back on Ban's list for another sometime soon. I'm thinking a convex drop-point Ti Necker to match the M4 Drop-point EDC I'm planning to get.

That is a bummer. I hate losing gear as well. I happen to have a few Ti Drop Point EDC blanks laying around ;)
