Death Chat!!

Losing gear is a bummer, and that knife in particular was even more of a bummer.

[...]I happen to have a few Ti Drop Point EDC blanks laying around ;)

Sigh, in good time  Too many things to buy, not enough cash to go around.

I need to buy a new car camping tent, and some better car camping inflatable mats first. And a new daypack (been eyeing the Osprey Exos 34). I've been wanting something lighter, roomier, and with a proper hipbelt-frame-suspension. I've been using a Falcon-II for dayhikes, but want to switch back to something with a better frame and suspension. In addition, all this talk about the FiveFingers and such has got me itching again to pick one up, for running and possibly hiking.

I see alot of people like those five fingers and Ive seen a couple people wear them at the gym but I wonder how comfortable they can be without much padding. They really arent weight lifting shoes either. They dont seem to offer anymore stability then going barefoot.

I think it came out last year in China but its out right now in theaters here. Any of you from our Asian contingency seen Detective Dee? Another Chinese fantasy action movie but looks like its done well. Playing at Santana Row right now.

They are not suppose to add any stability or padding. The sole is merely there to protect your feet from whatever is on the ground. I think the logic behind it is that modern shoes with added arch support and what not has thrown off our natural stride, causing misalignments, knee pain, back pain, etc.

Everybody is different: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-240-319-327-7727-0,00.html. Based on that article, I think if you have a close to normal pronation, barefoot type running shoes (or barefoot completely) should work since everything in your body lines up properly and naturally stabilizes and absorbs shock.

On the otherhand, if you have over/under pronation (lack of stability/lack of shock), then you should look into shoes with stability support or extra shock absorption. A lot of people just buy shoes without looking into this and they exaggerate their problems even more. I think I read somewhere that barefoot type running shoes slowly fix your pronation problems overtime.

Nope, but looks interesting, I gotta check it out.

I now officially have Ninja shoes for walking on the track, running, and hitting the trails ;) I use to make fun of folks that wear shit like that.... hahaha....

They are surprisingly comfortable. I really feel like a Ninja now. I went to REI this morning and these Kangaroo Leather Treks were one of the few they had that fit me. Also, a bit more spendy than the other Five Fingers. But they were also the most comfy and stable of all the ones I tried on. I originally had my eyes set on the Komodosport LS but they don't make any that fit me.

They did not have the treksport in my size. I am really diggin the kangaroo leather so far. It was by far the most comfortable of all the ones I tried on. The only downside to it is the price tag. It is 25bucks more than the treksport.

Gotcha. I'm looking at the Treksport because it doesn't feature leather. I'm thinking it'll be less maintenance and might be more breathable with the mesh. But all descriptions claim the leather is breathable as well

They even have lace-up ones now...might be better at keeping one's feet secure in wet/muddy conditions where velcro doesn't work so well. More expensive though.

Most probably because Five Finger has a better ring to it than Five Toes ;)

Walked on the track and did a bit of running with my Treks this evening. Felt a little odd running at first but got use to it real quick.

Word has it that a little Ninja was spotted walking around Santana Row this evening.

Going moosehunting. Looking forward to try out the Ban ti custom gut opener and the bushcraft contest knife (choil-less B4 in 3v) :D

Awesome man! Good luck and stay safe out there. I hope that you get a chance to use those knives on game. Try to take some pics to share with us.
