Awesome hike today, Big Basin is gorgeous! Thanks for taking pics too, I'd post mine, but essentially they're uglier versions of yours.

Difficulty was medium/high medium I think. The park rates it as strenuous but I don't think it's that bad especially since you've done half dome.

I need to look into new hiking shoes. I don't want boots though, I think lighter trail running shoes will suit me better.

I am actually considering the Inov-8 X-talon 212 and the Saucony Peregrine as well. Don't really need them because the Five Fingers will probably fill those role as well. But I do like the quick drying mesh upper vs the kangaroo leather. I have heard that the Kangaroo leather dries fairly quickly as well. I just don't like the idea of getting leather wet.
