December 2022 Buck of the Month - 112 S30V 50th Stamp/Medallion Ebony Polished NS Frame

I was hoping we would see a drop point option in the Custom shop FOR SURE this year..Well maybe 2023. If Buck makes a bunch of BOTM knives then they should make it different in some way steel, handle ect. But they are selling very well so I am wrong. I think flippers will end up selling under MSRP except for the first dozen or so..

I want one badly but not sure it differs enough from my December 2018 BOTM of which only 250 were made. I do like those 50th Anniversary logos. Gonna chew on it a bit before deciding but I'll probably cave and get one.

That's a handsome knife.
I like the simplicity of it.
....Without the medallion.

A black distressed leather sheath would be nice with that.

Thanks for the BOTM post complete with knife description in the thread title.
It sure makes future searching easy as this place is a good resource.👍

I noticed last night that the emblem is unique to this 112..So it is slightly different than the regular 50th. It just wasn't unique enough for me. All in all Buck has had a good year for 112's. I really wish Buck had made this one with S45VN as only one (the KOA) has so far been made. I'm always looking for a odd 112 old or new but this one was not quite odd enough. Why Buck makes so few drop point's and dosen't offer it in the Custom shop is a real mystery to me! I feel like it would be absurdly easy just to drop a box of blades off..I wonder why serrations are not offered. But my BIGGEST wish is that we could order a Take-Apart in the Custom shop! 722's have fantastic choices but if I could order extra blades, different frames, handles and parts, even at a very high price, I would! I have not given up yet but I really feel it would be a win for the 112 and Buck.

Darn. This took me my surprise and I missed out. Must have been naughty this year. I love Rangers the best too.😓

So, maybe I have sour grapes, but the only difference I see from the regular 50th Anniversary knife, which I have, is the steel and the bolsters. This is a $45 upgrade cost in the custom shop. So, it does seem like a high price. But I wanted one anyway! But they should have put a more distinctive handle material on it, in my opinion.

The handle inlay is made of pewter which I assume also makes it different from the standard 50th Anniversary 112. The stamp versus etch thing is a variation as well.

Honest question here for anyone who might know: Did the Anniversary 110’s have a variant with Nickel Silver frames and if so, are those more sought after to collectors now than the standard Anniversary 110’s?

Collectibility may have also been figured into the price.

I could be wrong but I’m thinking I read it somewhere that the reason harder steels like s30v are etched is because they are so hard to stamp and it creates a weak spot in the blade. That makes since and it probably saves on tooling stamps wearing out quicker.

I personally don’t mind the etching BUCK, USA the model number and date code but I don’t like the billboard signage plastered all across the blade. I’ve got a couple knives that the blackish etching has faded but held just right in the light I can still see the designs.

GONE !

I hope all who were nice this year got one.

Thanks! I really liked the nickel silver bolsters and pewter anniversary emblem, as well as S30V steel upgrade (S45VN would have been great). So after deliberating for a few hours I ordered one last night. I got charged by Buck Knives right away and was notified by email from my Chase card. But I had not received any email from Buck Knives about this, just the charge.

So, I got really worried after finding this thread tonight, as apparently I ordered only about 17 minutes before you posted "GONE!". But I just looked in junk mail, and yes I did get a receipt from Buck for the purchase, Order #11672xx and I did not miss this opportunity. Whew.

I have a couple of the regular 50th in brass color (one with and one without finger grooves), and so I had waited a few hours before pulling the trigger on this one. I almost missed it by a quarter hour.

I got my shipping confirmation tonight.

Got mine today and I gotta say that it’s pretty damn nice, great action and lockup, everything is tight and flush, grind is even as well! Also since it was mentioned, the blade is etched, not stamped.

Mine just got here also. It's beautiful! Great fit and finish. It needed a little flushing to get the grittiness out, but nothing like that web special 111 a couple months ago. Solid lockup. I severely underestimated how much I'd like the ebony/nickle silver combination. It's in my pocket now.

Sorry, no photos yet.
