Deep carry clips? Why?

I personally don't want any extra attention towards my knife.

In response to this and all the other people talking about "discretion" and "not advertising you have a knife" and all that jazz, you people DO understand that unless you're carrying a truly massive folder like say, a Cold Steel Espada XL or something, the only people who would notice something like non-deep carry folder sticking out of your pocket are the EXACT same people who will STILL notice the clip, right?

I lust use whatever clip the knife came with.
I prefer it when they don't have a deep carry clip, but as long as the clip isn't flimsy, it does what it's meant to do...keep it in my pocket.

I've lost 2 "regular" clip knives, one to some willow bushes out in the woods, and one caught on the inside of my jacket and got pulled out. Both were pulled out so smoothly I never felt anything. Argh.

If you work an office job, or a job where you deal with clients on a professional level, then discreet carry is a benefit. Not everyone likes to advertise that they're carrying a knife.
This was key for me. I used to work at a company with a "no knife" rule. They had 11" bread knives in the kitchen, paring knives, etc., and lots of people carried SAK's and leathermans. I finally settled on a SAK and deep pocket carry, and never had a problem.

I don't even use the clip on my knives when I pocket them...they just go into the pocket, nobody knows, problem solved. I don't even "clip" my knives to my life vests when fishing, they just go into one of the zippered waterproof pockets. So, if you're all concerned about hiding the fact you're carrying a folder, just stick it in an available pant pocket.
I've done that also, when in places like Disney - where I forgot I had my knife and wasn't about to take the 45 min monorail ride back to my hotel...

Better Protection (the less knife that is visible, the less there is to get beaten up in daily use)
More Comfortable (deeper in my pocket means less jabbing in my side if i move around alot... yes, i am a big guy....)
.

These are the same two reasons I like deep carry clips, especially on more expensive folders with attractive scales. On my Dragonfly with Nishijin scales I was concerned about too much hanging outside the pocket leading to scratches (several of my other knives have this), so I switched to a deep carry clip.

I'm surprised Disney doesn't have full gate security with metal detectors and bag checks. It's sad how security has become, even some local pubs (not just night clubs) and sports games require full security checks.
