I wish I had better luck this year. Didn't see any bucks, only 4 does. My RC-4 with the orange handle is still waiting to taste some blood.

Looks like you guys cut out the windpipe from the outside. Seems like that is how they do it west of the Mississippi. Funny, you would think by now everyone would field dress their deer the same way. When you look at information on how to do it, like I did when I started deer hunting, there is a lot of variety in methods. I guess if there is more than one way to skin a cat, there should be more than one way to fiels dress a deer!

Sorry to hear about your poor luck chewbacca, between seven guys we had sixteen deer this season. Should have chased a couple your direction. Yesterday we drove to the check station with eleven deer. It was a good season.

I think the way different folks dress their deer depends on what they will do with it later. If it's a doe, it most likely won't be mounted so you can slit them right up to the jaw to get 'em cooled fast. If you'll mount a nice buck the you stop at the brisket so you won't give the taxidermist a hard time. As to the Christian/non-Christian,hunter/non hunter thing, go to Genesis 27:3. I haven't got one yet. Where I hunt the landowner has a six point minimum.

Good luck with your smooth bore Tex. I will be going with a sidelock 20 bore rifle in Dec when our muzzleloading season opens. Keep your powder dry.

Wow, I missed this somehow! Great harvest man! Glad to see your keppy served well. John makes the best one around IMO. Is yours a thick one? Looks 3/16.

Hunting is a way of life for alot of folks. Glad to see you put meat in your freezer. Enjoy it, looks very nice!!

JW my JK kephart is 3/16 and the blade is a little over 41/2 long. A beefy little sucker.
