Defense situation

A p.o.s. made in India, ,Windlass Steelcrafts,Primitive Bowie.Arrived unedged having paid the extra 10 bucks to arrive sharpened.Had hollow ground at local fab shop, actually a nice grind.Plenty sharp enough to de-animate.And imagine the indignity. :) 12 1/2" blade of the crappiest stainless,no heat treat.Wonder if the crappy, stained dark handle will stay attached?Better a lunge and not a slash.

Probably a World War I butcher bayonet with its 15" blade, or the 18" Ontario machete.

BK7 or Buck 119. Either one of those or my very frightening, pants wetting United Cutlery Survival Bowie. Fear the 420j2!

My SureFire E2D to blind, and my Coldsteel POS $30.00 Kukri that sits under my bed, and has never been taken outside my home, to "convince" the intruder that he picked the wrong home.

My tom brown tracker is never too far out of reach but for distance I'd probably go for my United cuttlery black ronin POS.It's pretty well disposable if I really needed to do just that.(Remember it's not a crime till a body is found.) :D

WWI German Falchion (a brass hilted machete/short sword) in left hand, 6 cell maglight in right hand, USMC Ka-Bar in rear right pocket, Japanese sword through belt. Not taking any chances of running out of 'ammo'.

Seems kind of odd to rule out the .45-caliber and 12-gauge varieties of weapons, but if I must, I suppose I'll go with my 10" chef's knife and a 710 in my pocket...

Biggest butcher knife in the rack.

And my aluminum baseball bat and trusty retriever and 870 Remington and the Dragon Lady beating him over the head with whatever is handy.

As peculiar as it sounds, Shmackey, not everyone has access to firearms. Who? Well, children with felony records I guess. :D I forgot about the Becker's. I have a Patrol Machete that would be my new first choice.

If he was armed with a hammer or crowbar only, according to the law of the state I am in I can only retaliate with equal or lesser force. Using a knife could be interpreted by some juries as responding with deadly force.

I'd have to use whatever is on hand to evacuate the premises safely and to call 911. Maybe a lame response, but legally it's the safest choice.

In make-believe land, I'd grab my Ontario Spec Plus tanto. 10" of razor sharp 1095. It's like wielding a short sword (and is a carry-over of my mall-ninja days  ). It does make a heck of a beater knife though.

A hammer or crowbar ISN'T considered deadly force, especially when you're being attacked in your own home? I'm glad my state is a little more reasonable.

I would grab one of my tomahawks or my 6' poleaxe before a knife, but if it had to be a knife it would probably be my CS Oyabun or my throwing knives. I do have a big Henckels cleaver that might do the trick too. Who knows, I would probably just start throwing anything I could find and start chucking it at him.

My old Solingen kitchen knife with 8" blade.

Light, very comfortable wood handle with finger guard.
Nothing more is needed.

Maybe Nimravus to the left hand, but coordination could be then quite difficult.

well...for reach I have a nice white oak/or maple? boken under the bed and for sharp and pointy a Spyderco Ronin, for disorientation Glaius set on strobe, and if there is time for loud, bangy, and bright....Glock23 with .40 Hornady TAP and SureFire X200...but the boken, Gladius and Ronin are withing arms reach.
