Delica 5?

Like this, you mean? I've already got one. :)

Holy crap that's nice! Who did the work?

I think stonewashed or even bead blasted clips would be nice. I can't really think of anything else, haha it's gotten too near perfect in the 4th generation.

I did. There's a whole thread in the pictures section of the Spyderco forums, title is something like Delica 4 with choil and wire clip, lots more pictures if you're interested. Came out very nice, except that the handle doesn't really provide enough grip in working situations (as opposed to, say, opening envelopes). Maybe if I learned how to checker and found some walnut......

If anything the delica should retain its assortment of handle colourations. Spyderco is one of the few knife makers who makes knives in multiple colours and frankly that makes the knife so much more appealing. I would love to see a delica in the lovely blue g-10 found on the sprint run manix and the sage 3

Maybe to you but to me that isn't a Delica anymore. Just MHO, no big deal. The work on that knife is very good but I just prefer it the original shape. There are way to many Spyderco knives already that offer a choil for me to like this change.

The changes are really, really minimal. Just a little corner out of the scale, and a very slight radius on the ricasso.

That said, I agree that the choil-loving populace is already very well served by Spyderco, and that there's no need to modify the Delica/Endura in this way. Perhaps an inexpensive FRN Caly 3 would split the difference?

Give it a deeper belly, a wider handle, rust-proof steel -- and call it the Salt ! -- my new favorite 'Delica.' :D

I would also buy that saber ZDP with G10 in a heartbeat!

Does anyone know -- is the saber ZDP still available?

The only thing I'd like is if they could get the edge to go closer to the handle. I am being picky, but having the grind and edge end well before the handle bothers me.

+1 i just came on here to say the same thing

Hi Kreole,

The location of the "kick" serves a safety function during one hand closing and it prevents the blade from closing on the spring and spring holder.

sal

I Lied I actually love the "kick" for one handed closing..what I meant to say/agree on was if the blade could be just a tad longer. If you look at the blade/handle ratio when its closed you can afford to add a good amount of length to the blade before its even close to the end of the handle

Things I would hate to see go:

FFG
Multiple handle colors
comparatively large handle, giving a good grip on a smaller blade

Things I think might be a good improvement:

Additional steel options, just for kicks
a choil, as long as it doesn't cut into handle real estate or force you into a sabre grip
a wire clip, not necessarily deep carry, but bronzed for a little lower profile.

Um...that's it.

The D4 is my favorite knife ever. Period.

The D4 is my favorite knife and the one that I by far own the most of. That being said I would love to see a wharncliff version.

Wharncliff blade would be a great idea. How about a sprint run of engraved stainless Delicas/Enduras?
Don't change the basic D4/E4. Sprint runs will feed our hunger.

I have over a dozen and csrry very frequently in an office environment. No doubt a choil and deep wire clip would be an improvement.
