Undelivered knife

UPDATE 3/8/18

A Cop buddy of mine through AA stepped into help Nothing really
On the nite of 3/8/18
Well a Mother in the complex was wondering why her
10 old son had a new Microtech Auto knife Kid know nothing
She pushed him He broke and told her it was in their box.

The mother went to the office to inquire if the girls knew anyone that might
be the rightful owner The girls know me They said me

They gave the single mother my Condo number and I get a knock last nite about
830 ish A young lady and her son
handin me the knife that was mine that he got out of his mail box and knew it wasnt his.
But boys will be boys
And he apologized

So in the end..
He's the run down
I was a dick in how I handled this deal with you
For which I apologized

Which explains times of no communication That was all on me Wanting answers yesterday Taking my frustration out on you
And we both agree NO one wants that type of loss

Sometime in my recovery for many years...They time in which you loss a bit of faith in humanity...You have moments like this inwhich it still is around with good Mothers in the picture..Parents to teach

I left them at the door for a minute
I gave the boy a Kershaw i had from years ago
Perhaps a 30$ knife He and she needed to know I appreciate them
and Mom should be proud..She may have made him do it. Come to my house.
But he stood up like a man and looked me in the eyes and did say he was sorry.

So a good ending

Rare But humanity does still exsist

The one thing you haven't mentioned is did you get the GPS location the package was delivered to.
This is a problem since it is marked delivered no insurance(if there was any) will be paid. Buyer sees it as delivered and only has your word(which I believe) it wasn't. Both sides don't want the loss for neither has done anything wrong. PP is right to side with seller(by their rules).
Other than the 1st suggestion-don't really have a solution-I'll check but I don't think this forum has the until both parties
happy rule(more un-written here if I remember right.
Possibly ask for a postal investigation

Gizmoman,

We have done deals in past if you have same name on another forum. Concerning the issue, I am truly conflicted. If I send a package out and follow every responsibility required by the deal and USPS RIPS OFF PACKAGE OR SCREWS UP. I can definitely see your point and I am sure I would feel the same. However, if we start to introduce more variability into this process the entire system begins to fail. The people that do scam begin to say packages that show delivered did nor arrive. Not sure where I land on this..

Done all I can with Post office and those people
They all give me the run around..I feel I have gone above and beyond
to do my part to locate knife.

Man that's tough.
As the other parties involved see it the package was delivered. I don't know what anyone else can do at this point. The package was most likely stolen with a slight possibility of it being lost. I have seen where packages show delivered only to show up a day or two later (doesn't seem like the case here).

Maybe deliveries should be signature required for another level of protection.

What do you propose the seller do at this point ?

I am open to discussing a resolution..
I always was

I have tried simply to discuss
I guess I'm feeling. If it were me that's all

I've paid for my fair share of lost stolen knives
Or came upon a private resolution

It wasn't a suggestion I expected to solve it. More of a Hail Mary-what do you have to loose.
You said you talked to 3 carriers-Did you determine the carrier that delivered it?-just wondering
I can only tell you what I would do as a seller as to restitution and it is totally my thoughts and not based on a harden rule of any kind. Knowing you I would offer something- depending somewhat on how flush and generous I felt at the time. Not knowing you I would have to determined if I believed you-if so the same as the 1st. I have paid my share of losses and been paid once. I always have felt bad about taking the full amount from the person that paid me, and since have felt sharing the load is a better approach. So I would suggest the seller works something out with you, but don't think he is obligated to do such.
That's my opinion for what it is worth-likely not much
(my only losses have been international)

po box wont help. use a couple for business so checks mailed wouldnt get lost in the shuffle of hands at the shop. the postal folks mess up on those boxes all the time. i have to fight with them monthly to get my mail. usually they find it eventually. sometimes they dont. sorry for your troubles on this deal. it is frustrating. hope postal folks find your package

Gizmoman Gizmoman The Package shows delivered, you have a issue with either the post office or a Thief in you area, none of which have ANYTHING to do with the seller.

You file a Paypal claim which gets rejected, then start a thread here and post the Members screen name even though he has done nothing wrong?

UNBELIEVABLE !

Never stated he personally as a person did anything
I merely am expressing what happened
I was very open with the seller of my intentions and
invited him to pipe in

I am not disagreeing withn what you have stated FGL
If tables were turned.
You or any of us should simply lay down and take the loss

I tried to speak to seller privately Involved Mods
I was advised to head here is I found no resolution with seller

Ill say it again as, I have never denied
Yes. Many many years ago in USN
It was something I did to help offset cost
Of my wife's kidney meds

I tried to sell a knife I didn't have
Got banned. I have never denied any of that

It can be searched. I've owned all of that
This is not that. You do have your opinion
That's also ok

Perhaps we all have our views on such a situation
Until you are in it
Which I've paid out my fair share
Because my item they paid for never made it

Thats a pretty sad story sorry for your probable loss unless it turns up being delivered to the wrong address. I get occassional mail from one street over and visa versa I find from time to time packages dropped on my porch that is not my address.
I think the only solution is to buy things and request that they be sent signature required and have them sent to your place of business where someone is more likely to be there to sign for it. I'd pay a little extra for that type of insurance.

Case in point. A few days ago I stayed home to await the delivery of a wicked edge pro pack III sharpening system. Of course, I had to hang around all day until I heard the truck pull up finally around 4, they had until 8! I went out to get it and I asked him if the seller sent it signature required and he said nope just regular delivery and I was about to leave it on your porch! This box was huge and 35 lbs worth $1199 and was shipped by a 3rd party vendor of amazon's with no signature required. I've had TV's for $2500 shipped by amazon the same way with a big pic of the samsung tv all over the box and they just left it on my front porch which is on a main street with lotsa traffic for all to see.

In my experience, the only solution against future losses is have the item delivered to a relative or your office if you won't be there to sign for it. The seller should have shipped it with a sig requested and charged you a little extra or absorbed it himself. But he's not responsible for your loss. And reluctantly I have to agree with Gizoman's post above that its wrong to bad mouth the shipper who has proof of shipment. I don't think he would even deserve negative feedback.

Just my experience from chasing down too many missing deliveries over the years. You can't leave the ball in these delivery companies court as they will try and get out of paying a claim every time. Even the PO takes months to refund you for a lost delivery when its their error. And if I was not home to receive that $1,199 package of which the seller has proof of delivery, UPS would have their driver proof of leaving it on my porch and if someone stole the package . . . I'd be out the $1,199

I'd recommend speaking with your postmaster. He or she will locate the person who made the delivery to investigate.
Best to do asap while memories of postman are fresh.

Yes sir...Spoke with carrier from that day Supervisor went in back and got her..
All I got was I delivered it and a shrug of shoulders
