Delta Sheath Owner Refusing to offer business over his own mistakes

I recently purchased a mini Delta Sheath direct from the manufacturers website and the owner sent me a defective sheath. The very front of the sheath had piece of the surface of the leather scratched off revealing the lighter grain below. Also, the sheath was specifically advertised that it supported scout carry for up to 1.5 inch wide belts with photos posted in his gallery, however, I couldn't get his sheath to fit my belts that are 1.5 inches. I contacted him via his website and asked for a return shipping label and a refund. He admitted he knew of the defect before shipping it out to me but shipped it anyways and advised I keep the sheath and gave me a full refund. I just tried to purchase a different sheath from his website DeltaSheath.com, as a gift for a relative that is a retired Army war veteran, and he refunded my money stating he is refusing to do any business with me. I guess it's best in the end because I certainly don't want to do business with someone like this but I am curious, has anyone else run into this problem with this manufacturer? I just find it odd that someone would deny themselves business over their own mistakes and blame the buyer. Very strange.

Recent email conversation with Delta Sheath owner:

Order Number:1053
RMA Number:
Hello,
I just received my order in the mail and tried on the Delta Shield™ Mini OLIVE Leather Belt Sheath, however, I cannot appendix carry this sheath as advertised in your Customer Photos. I have 3 belts, all are 1.5" wide belts and only one fits through the openings on the back of the sheath and the remainder of this belt has no where to go as there is no room to loop it back into the sheath leaving an excess of belt flapping out. Also, there is a minor defect on the front of the sheath where a small spec of leather was scratched off. I was willing to accept this minor flaw as I really like the appearance of the sheath, however, since the sheath is completely incompatible with appendix carry as advertised, can you send me a return shipping label to have the sheath returned for a full refund? Thank you.
OK I will issue your refund.

And to make matters easier, you can keep the sheath.

After you get your refund, I urge you to keep trying. As you can see in the picture it does work. The leather is supposed to be very tight when new as it will stretch over time. I use a thick piece of leather to make the back loop assembly because that will receive the stress of wear and tear over time and has to hold onto your belt regardless of how it is worn. Unfortunately, that same thick leather makes it very difficult to get the belt through the first several times.

Since I made your sheath by hand I know there is a very small speck on the front. Apologies for that. I honestly did not see that until it was finished. I should have tossed it aside and made a new sheath for you.

I understand it can be difficult in the beginning to get the belt to work, but once you get it to work, I think you'll enjoy it. I wore my PSK EDC on my own mini shield in appendix carry almost two years and often forgot it was there. Tip: try loosening the straps with a screwdriver or something similar to help stretch out the leather enough to get the belt started.

Anyway, your refund will show up in a few days. Enjoy the sheath.

Your order has been cancelled and refunded. I will not make leather work for you. Please shop elsewhere for your leather work. Thank you,

The maker acknowledged your disappointment and quickly refunded in full and gifted you the sheath. I’d have written a nice thread instead of a negative one, or none at all, personally. You feel slighted and insulted by him not wanting to conduct future transactions? That’s his choice. Sounds like he’s avoiding future issues for both you and himself. There are plenty of other leather craftsmen out there , for you to find the right maker.
Furthermore,
I find it weird to attempt another purchase from the maker m, after being dissatisfied with the previous product, just my humble opinion.

Wow. Just saw this. Says slot about the OP. The maker told you to keep the sheath for free and promptly refunded you everything. And he just decided he did not want to do work for you in the future (which is anyone's right). And then you have the gall to post this and trash the guy. You are a real piece of work. Adding to my ignore list. 🙄

So the guy gives you a free sheath because you complained about a minor flaw and you thank him with a trial by internet.

For your sake I hope his wife’s not a hacker, karma can be a bitch.

I eat liver for breakfast and i make my own sheaths.
Yes, but can you do both at the same time? Hmmmm?

As for the topic, I can see being upset at receiving a product that doesn’t appear to work as advertised. However, considering the maker gave a full refund and let OP keep the product, and provided some tips on how to make it work, that doesn’t deserve this bitch-o-gram.

Inappropriate Behavior
Had he manned up himself and responded to my inquires instead of shadow banning me after requesting the refund, I would have saved everyone the torture here and posted my views directly on his website, but..... who's the real bitch then? Makes me believe his website's reviews are fake. Geez, with all the hate on here, you'd think I was too rough when raping everyone's little darlin.

Ummm…the last line in your post is a little much.

Also, I noticed the flaw before getting the sheath fully out of the plastic bag it was wrapped in and knew he knew about the flaw but sent it anyways which the reason I sent him the email. He thought he could get away with it without me noticing. I paid extra for the colorway. Had I not cared about aesthetics, I would have purchased a Bradford sheath for 1/8th cost. As shown above, he knew it before he sent it and chose the lazy way out. This says a lot about him as a sheath maker, just like Patriot Leather. Apparently, I should've just decided to leave a negative review directly on his website and not email him instead. But, clearly, he's not as honorable as he appears with his fake 5 star reviews on his website. If you email him first with disapproval of his QC, he'll just shadow ban you so you can't give an honest review. Had he not done this, I would've saved everyone here the torture but nope, he had to go and be a little snake instead. I invite him to reinstate my account so I can leave my perspective and I'll immediately delete this entire thread here and make everyone happier. I'm waiting!!!!!........

BUT YOU GOT YOUR MONEY BACK. That’s the bottom line, and you still have a new sheath with a blemish on it (that we still haven’t seen a picture of) that no one will likely even notice after it’s been used a few times. No hate, just acknowledging the facts of the situation. You’re being the hateful one here. If you communicated with him with the same tone you’re communicating with us, I can see why he doesn’t want to do business with you.

Agreed.

I doubt many of the members repling even know the maker, I don't, but it's not really even about the craftsman he made you whole (plus a free sheath) by your own account. Just going by the way you've conducted yourself it's pretty easy to see who feels entitled and lost their cool.

Sometimes the best thing a man can do is just stop ... and reflect a bit. You weren't wronged. You receieved a prompt, full refund, and a free sheath. I'd say you were more than made whole.

You're just got offended that anyone would chose to not deal with you and came here looking for a sounding board, but you don't seem to like the responses you received here either. What's the common denomenator?

I don't think you're going to get as you put it "reinstated" with your tantrum here. Might be best to chalk it up to you not being happy with the product and receieving a refund with a bonus sheath and let it go.

I thought he was trying to win my business back, so I thought I would show my appreciation by purchasing another sheath as a gift for a relative that was larger (Sheath was being sent to entirely different city). Given my forgiving nature, I thought I would give him a second chance. I also figured the larger sheath would have slightly larger loops given the larger real estate. So everything seemed logical from my perspective. I thought emailing him was the correct thing to do. Now, in hindsight, I should've spared everyone the headache and just left a negative review on his website without contacting him first but I guarantee you, he would've just deleted it. Which explains why he immediately shadow banned me after my first contact with him. Makes me wonder who else he has banned after being contacted with a dispute and how true his 5 Star rating really is on his website. Hmmmm....I wonder. I appreciate your opinion.

Why would he do that?

Your conduct in this thread has likely sent a few new customers his way, who otherwise wouldn't know he existed.

Agreed.

I don't feel entitled to anything. Just exposing the truth. Thanks.

At this point I'm going to recommend just dropping it. You can or not its up to you, but I would venture to guess that any additional damage you do will be to yourself rather than the target of your displeasure.

Why would he do that?

I’m lining up. Anybody who would refuse this a$$clown service is the type of straight shooter I want to do business with.

There’s no pleasing some fools. That’s why you see makers refusing future business from some.

All the maker did was tell the guy he wouldn’t make him another sheath. And that’s after he gave a full refund and let him keep the product, which undoubtedly took hours of his time to make.

OP - every additional post in this thread is only making you seem more petty and butthurt. The guy doesn’t want your business. We all know you think you’re wonderful, but it’s time to accept the situation and take your ball and go home.

This was in poor taste, as was this thread. Not a big fan of pile ons but it seems like you are begging for a panel beating.

You are out nothing, you have free product... and yet you couldn't leave it alone. Figured you would show him up and go after his livelihood and now his reviews "must be fake" ;)

Have the self control to quit while you're not ahead. People get way too emotional about their internet purchases these days.
