I'd be OK with a steel change to whatever is replacing SR-101.Agree… just one minor problem with it being stocked:
Steel: SR-101
We got a great deal on a super knife/sheath combo!
I think AEB-L is good but not made in thick sheet. 12C27 would be more avaliable in various thicknesses.I'd be OK with a steel change to whatever is replacing SR-101.
100% not bashing the factory sheath.Got mine today. That sheath retention is ridiculously tight. I may have to use a heat gun to loosen it up.
It may be unorthodox but I took the knife out and shaved off plastic in slivers until the retention was satisfactory.

I can use it as is... not too tight but tighter than other sheaths I have... not as refined as something like the plastic sheath from a Spartan Harsey Fighter but it'll work. I'm a sucker for anything sterile from BUSSE. I miss my old Dog Father.I actually like the retention. With a little pressure on the thumb ramp and a pull it just easily pops out. Not sure if thumb ramp actually pushes something apart in that case that's a pretty neat design.
However, if it's just a thumb ramp... it could have been angled the other way, so it's more of a thumb rest. As is, it forms a point that kind of jabs in your thumb. But, if that what helps the knife pop out, then as I said it's a good thing.
