Design A Simple Knife

Seeing some nice stuff. Amazing what we come up with when the "free knife" carrot is dangled in front of us. :)

Some great designs here, I've not really got anything much different to what's already here.
On a knife with this overall length I'd rather have as much handle as I can and compromise on the blade length a little.I also think that 1/16" stock is plenty thick enough on a little knife like this as you aren't going to use is a pry bar !

This one looks interesting.

I totally agree

Thats partly why I believe a warnchliff would be a great blade shape for this size. More cutting edge despite size restrictions.

But alot of cool looking designs!

In general I agree. As handle size shrinks ergonomics becomes more and more of a factor. A well shaped handle can make all the difference...and can make up for size. I have a couple fixed blade knives at or under the 6" mark, all with handles in the 3" to 3.5" range, but only one that feels comfortable for long term use...because of the nicely shaped handle.

I am going to cheat here. As I can't design anything.

John...since you already make a knife with the exact specs you listed, why not just leave the scales off your EDC model?

6" OAL ,2 3/4" scale to tip. The handle is shaped so that the hand will be off the blade, and should give great retention in Kydex. And since you already designed it you don't have to give one away.:D

Besides I like mine, and a scaleless version would be cool.:)

Other than that, I am voting early for pitdog's.

On a small knife, I don't need much handle, it is going to field dress game and cut a little food in Prep work. That's just me.

Hopefully you can see these ones John. Nothing special, especially w/ alot of great designs from the other folks.

Seriously, the modified EWOK in firekit is fabulous. I will try to post some pics. Handle is just right.

11x11x your last 2 pics are too small for me to copy!!! I`ve started an album, these won`t allow me to save them!!!

I like this contest! The holes may need to be resized a bit and I think the gaurd area would need to be rounded a bit.

heres my first attempt ever at a knife design, so please bear with me. Also I dont have a scanner so I had to take a picture of my picture lol.

the long hole in the handle is a place to store a small firesteel w/ a ranger band, a paracord wrap, or removeable scales.

Still thinking 1/16" stock would be cool !!!

I love these opportunities! They allow us to see so much creativity, and of course offer a very nice incentive :)

Here is my entry--a minimalistic Wharncliffe style. It may not be exactly to scale here, since I drew it up real quick in MS Paint, but you get the idea, I think.

I've been wanting to get a custom EDC for a while but don't have the cash for it. Thanks for the chance!:D
