  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Desperados Waiting for a Train

Caution, cringe worthy video.

Standing shoulder height drop test.
Tip is at .015", this is post quench, normally I do it after the first temper, but this one is mine and I thought I'd see if it caused issues.
This is nothing special and a common test, just thought I'd share.
Usually I drop them straight, this one slipped out of my hand crooked.
You can see then little chip it took out of the concrete.

I love the sound 52100 makes when it bashes concrete.
It does have a nice "Bling, Blong, Blang" to it doesnt it?

Heat treat is like discussing religion or politics, everybody's got their own ideas and that's fine as long as your results are solid. A drop like this will create an abrasion on the steel, but it shouldn't bend, break, or chip.

John I didn't know that was a common test, I'm going to have to start doing that with all my blades.
