Different Look and Feel Forum

Just discovered another quirk of the new forum, when you click "Like" it does not change to "Unlike". Like just becomes bold. I just went thru and reclicked my likes thinking I had missed them, all that did was unlike them. It is confusing and not that obvious to old eyes because the font is small.

I find it much easier to navigate and also upload photos more swiftly. As already stated would be good to colour scheme so the pinned posts don’t keep getting mistaken for new posts

There are some new buttons for quick access and navigation that make it easier to get around to where I want to go. And the thread finder buttons are a breeze. It’s just a matter of getting familiar with the new set up and personalizing how I want it to look. So far this is a good change and upgrade service.

OK..... BIG BIG problem. The search function will not let you search with numerical model numbers !!!!
You can not search for 119, or BUCK 119,,. it will drop the 119 as being too short to be a search parameter.
yep. tried it. the days of fast finds by model numbers is over. not good.....

A little kludgey, but a work around for now is to go to https://duckduckgo.com/ and type the following into the search to look for Buck 110 (as an example) on BF:

site:https://bladeforums.com/ buck 110

From what I have read...the default minimum word length for MySQL full text indexes is 4 characters. Server admins can change my.cnf file by adding a line "ft_min_word_len=3" or even down to 2 characters, but then they have to rebuild the search index.

Yep, The coloring of the sticky's at the top of our forum page needs to be changed (it sucks). In Addition, the search features are currently a big stinking pile of crap and must be changed. People come here to learn and old threads that can be easily searched saves bandwidth as folks can find their own answer without asking the same thing over and over more than it already happens. IMHO this is almost as bad as when photobucket locked everyone's photos

Ahhh the days when the most frustrating thing about technology was a blinking VCR.

Remember when you actually had to get off the couch to change the channel?

No, but I remember Mom and Dad telling us to go change the channel, we were usually laying or sitting on the floor watching. and there were only 3 channels, 2,6,and 9.

Hope Spark is aware of this. Is there a suggestion thread somewhere?

Hahaha, get up and change to one of the other whopping seven channels on the black and white TV. If we were getting poor reception my father would send me to the roof of our house to rotate the antenna. Some of the football games were from far away signals, I got to rotate until we got the best picture possible. I thought it was great fun climbing up onto the roof as I could take one of three routes, climb the shed against the house then onto the roof, climb the fence next to the house then pull myself onto the roof, or climb the Walnut tree next to the house and right onto the roof. Those were the good old days.

My grandparents could get three stations in good weather. The antenna had to be adjusted to get one of them. Grandpa put the mast up outside the window the TV sat in front of and clamped a pipe wrench to it. To adjust the antenna: open window, grab wrench, adjust.

Mrs. ID and I cut off the cable tv some time back and put up one of those flat antennas in the window. 51 channels!! Free. And the local stations have 2 or 3 "extra" to boot (2-1 2-2 2-3 etc). We were admiring it one day when the grandsons were here and I mentioned "beats putting tinfoil on the rabbit ears" and they both looked at me like I'd gone mad 😂
