Ding and paid, post your Flack Jack pictures when you get 'em

I'm waiting for my SH too but not worried about it- paid for it last week so it will probably be a while- Nice part is, I know what I'm getting and the longer it simmers the better it will taste right? but the LEAST you can do is post pics when you get them right? .... Seeing them pop up still is awesome to see your thoughts and opinions, it helps ease the pain, at least for me while the wait is on.

Yes what he said. It's like therapy for all of us who are waiting.

My first 2fer and first CS. Just last night I was thinking the same as some others, a SH for caressing and a CG for beating on! - SO thoughts, first off, I expected a feel like my Batac- nope, not really close at all. The blade is not as tall and longer. The handle feels thinner. I dig the canvas a lot.
The linen is quite different, looks pretty cool. I like how the pommel does have a curvature to the point on both sides, nice little touch! On the scales, the scallop between the palm swells are shallower than all my others giving it more of a flatter feel and the impression of being thin. Balance seems to be right where the index finger lands, slightly behind the front tube, gives a neutral feel with a natural grip again, seems to lend to the lighter feel.
I think I have a broad enough collection now to head out to the woods for some righteous therapy :D

Awesome review thanks. That looks like a legendary pair you got there. I'd love to see some comparison pics with the batac.

Thanks again for posting.

;) - I'd post pics of them side by side but slabs are off the batac atm getting beautified - I'll put it like this, the Batac feels more like a short handled shovel with a fatter grip where the FJ feels like a light, thin and pointy do-all cutter and stabber. The balance is interesting, just different, feels easy to steer if that even makes sense? My others similar in size balance more forward, around the choil area. It has more blade than I expected, longer than I imagined which was a pleasant surprise! I like it even more than I knew I would based on how much I like the Batac.

Mine arrived today, green Micarta DC finish..

I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with a new Busse upon opening the box, and I think I am over 175 now so I get them a lot. Anyone who studied Economics knows there's something called the Law of Diminishing Returns.. this is not one of them.

First impression of the Flak Jack when I took it out of the box? This will replace my SJTAC as my go-to mid-sized fixed blade. I am absolutely floored by the lightness in hand, ergo's are spot on, blade is thinly ground, the swedge out near the tip is perfectly executed making this an excellent penetrator. Aside from dicing open an Amazon box I have not cut anything else with it yet, but I don't need to, this would be on my short list for one of those "if you could only have one knife" threads.

It'll be on the bench making sheaths between now and Blade but we are staying in northern GA for a few days after Blade and it may just be on my belt for some woods time :)

like most i got the custom if i remember right the only difference was the snow hole handles right??

Someone mentioned earlier comparison pics with the Axe Hammer. It will likely be this weekend before I can do that, but I can confirm that this is basically the Axe Hammer with a different blade shape. Same blade length, and same thickness (best I can tell by looking; haven't mic'd them... yet). What I HAVE done is stuck the BGFJ that I received earlier this week (Monday) in the Axe Hammer sheath and left it there for daily carry (-ish.... it is in my GHB). it fits like it was made for it, even though the blade shape is different. And I'm due to receive my DCFJ today.

So, I should, by the end of the day, have a maroon micarta on black BGFJ, and red/black G10 on DCFJ. I'll try to make a sandwich with them and the Axe Hammer in between for photos, maybe Friday.

It's HERE! But I haven't opened it yet. I need to go find that thread on how to post photos, now that photof has hosed us all.

Try this:

1. Take a pic.
2. Email it to yourself to reduce image size. (On my iPhone, I select Medium file size.)
3. Save the new image to your phone.
4. Select "Upload a File" (This is below the text box at the bottom of the page.)
5. Be sure to select the new photo just saved to your phone.

Walla!

This is easier than any of the other methods I've tried.

I'll try that. I'm still at work right now. Besides, it will probably be Friday before I can get all three out together like I mentioned earlier.
