I love the side-on comparison. It's everything I hoped it would be. That spine shot has me seriously worried though. Was hoping for more width in the handle. Oh well, time will tell. Thanks for the pics :thumbup:

I with ya... I'm diggin the palm swells but the handle's lookin really lean. Might have to throw on some improvised liners ;). I have a G10 version coming too so we'll see. With the INFIdu the G10 was a little thicker, at least on the ones I had.
 
Yeah, they're pretty thin. Putting in liners shouldn't be a big deal if I decide to go that way though.

One thing I didn't notice right away is that the choil is wider and deeper, a change I really like (looks like the Beefmandu had this as well). Feels very nice to choke up on. The blade profile is sweet too.

One bummer is that I asked for a thinner grind on the order and apparently they missed it. On the CG I asked for the same and they delivered. It is ~.025 behind the edge while the JMD is ~.035. Not terrible for a hard use knife, but probably overkill for anything I'll use it for. I can't see myself sending it back after waiting almost 5 months for it though, I'll deal with it. The blade does shave arm hair out of the box, which is nice.

Oh, the thumb ramp is a little more rounded too. It's subtle, but I approve.

I think you're right, every time I pick it up it feels more "normal" to me. Time will tell if I want to do any mods to the grip, but for now I just need to get out and put it to use.
 
So, I'm pretty excited about this blade. Went through a quick battery of light chopping, batoning, carving, drilling, and destroyed a heavy aluminum can. Looked too purdy before, much better now. It's a keeper :thumbup::

Thanks man. I just meant maybe I should have started my own thread, but I guess it's all good. I'll probably never be this close to the top of the list again, but it's super sweet that I essentially get overnight shipping from Wauseon. (I'm only about 3 hrs away.)

I had to stay in with my kids last night, so after they went to bed I had some time to resharpen the blade and then sliced up a bunch of cardboard.

Tried to be at least a little objective at first, but the JMD is a really sick blade, I think people are going to love it.

...why didn't I order two? :confused:

Yeah - with the contouring, it feels thinner than the RMD (which was already on the thin side, IMO - but I love it anyway)
