Disappointed by Knifecenter

Here is what happened: I placed an order with them on the 19th for a Para CF and a Phoenix, both were showing in stock.
Shortly after I placed my order I receive an e-mail saying that the Para CF is not in stock and that they don't have a due date for it. So I e-mail them back and ask them to cancel the Para and ship the Phoenix.
On the 22nd I receive an e-mail saying that they had partially shipped my order (with no tracking information, which I found weird), and my card was charged that day.
Fast forward one week, still no Phoenix and no tracking information, so I e-mail them to find out where my knife is, and they tell me that my item is back-ordered.
So I contact the same person that told me on the 22nd that she had shipped the Phoenix and she replied today that the knife left yesterday (still no tracking).
I am used to dealing with guys like Roger at KnifeWorks and Jeff at CutleryShoppe and from now on I will avoid Knifecenter in the future.
BTW, the reason why I am so pissed is that I am leaving today for a trip abroad and I won't see the Phoenix in two months.
 
I've always had good luck with Knife Center. A lot of people are buying a lot of things right now and sometimes real time inventory management isn't up to speed.

I'm with Psycho, I rarely order new stuff but I had good luck with Knifecenter. The only time I can recall in which they screwed something up was when I ordered a Superhawk from them and I got an email a couple days later saying the order was canceled. Called them and got it sorted out, some sort of clerical trouble on their end.
 
Big busy business. They may see this and straighten up the problem. Rough timing with the holidays and travel, though.
 
Knifecenter has always been good to me, communication has been decent and service was the same. Chalk this up to the holidays man, it's a crazy time and they are only human. Everyone makes mistakes.
 
Sorry for your bad experience. Have always had good experiences with the folks at KC.

I have run into issues with their website though. Sometimes, when they are entering new stock into the system, items will briefly show up as "In Stock" that have already been designated to fill existing back-orders. I placed an order once for an "In Stock" Spyderco item and then received a backorder email. Called them and they explained what was happening. Maybe you ran into the same issue?
 
I had one issue when they listed items as being in stock, when they actually were not.

I ended up canceling few hundred dollars of orders as a result. Kind of annoying, and they blew off my inquiries about the problem.

I'd still order from them, but call to make sure your item is actually in stock.
 
I always had good luck with KC! until now...they no longer ship to nys! Guess ill keep giving my money to the dealers that need it, and have a pair!!
 
Their website is not as clear listing products as I'd like to, but they shipped what I ordered even if they were slower comparing to Knifeworks.

That situation you talk about is very annoying, as I think Para CF was pre-ordered and out of stock long ago. As for the Phoenix, maybe they lack good feedback due to "customers overload", I don't know. I try to talk with KF people as much as I can to avoid these surprises.

Hope you get what you ordered, even if you already have a very nice Howard Viele... :) Maybe when you're back you could compare both for us.

I have had all good experience with Knifecenter. Whenever I had an order question or change I just called them. They have always treated me good.
 
The first knife I ever purchased over the internet came from Knifecenter, and I've kept going back without any problems over the years.

But honestly, I don't remember that I've never had a problem with ANY vendor I've ordered a knife from online.
 
I finally received a tracking number, some 11 days after I placed my order. Now at least I'll know if the knife has been delivered, but I'll have to wait a couple months before I see it. I was actually planning to take that Phoenix along with me and give it to a friend for Christmas, now I'll have to find another present and add an extra Phoenix to my stash... I guess that's why I was so bummed about this.
 
Just curious about that Phoenix being not listed on KC anymore. At least I couldn't find it. Maybe you got the last one, but I think they didn't have it in stock and had to ordered it.
