Disappointed Spydie Millie!

Was going to ship it back to the dealer but if you wanna buy it let me know b4 tomorrow! Its black with a black blade!

So the Mil is a niche blade, even as many multi-puirpose use it. It's good at what it was designed to do.

All better now? lol.

I do admit my initial comment was sophomoric.

I have one Military (an orange one), which I bought mostly to check the knife out. I do find it impractically large for me (I work in an office environment and pretty much never need anything larger than, say, a 2.5" blade, so the Military seems cartoonishly big), but I really admire it for what it is - a large, lightweight, sturdy folder. The PM2 is much more practical in my life, but I keep the Military around to play with . . .

Again I wasn't saying the Millie is a bad knife. I was simply stating that I dont think its going to work for me. Now the para 2 fits my hand but i wish it had the liner lock instead of that lock in the back. Weird spot for a lock?
One of the strongest locks ever designed. I prefer this to a liner lock all day, "accidental" disengagement is virtually nonexistent. Unlocking is easy enough to do with a pinch of the thumb and index finger.

Just got a Spyderco Military. Thought I would like it since I have a few para millies that i like. I figured the ergos would be good if not better and I gotta say im disappointed and will be returning this knife. Im a huge Spyderco fan so im kind of disappointed that im not happy with it. Anyone else feel the same way or have a similar experience??

No, I don't feel the same way. I like them.
I am sorry to hear you have to send it back, but at least now you know you don't like it, as you do your Para's.
The Para's are a great knife.
Good luck with the return, and hope all goes well.

I totally agree. I can try and try to disengage the lock by screwing around with my hand position and it doesn't budge. Kudos to spyderco for creating such a magnificent lock:thumbup:

Yeah, I can see that. :D

Well, im about to box her up to go back. I feel bad, i ve never returned a Spydie before. Hopefully it ll get to someone that will enjoy it!

Are you even allowed to carry such knives where you live?

Anything 4" and under is the limit here. I already admitted to being sophomoric in my initial post on this thread. ( i guess you didn't see my follow up post).

FYI i don't care about blade limits and don't go by them, limiting what knife people may carry is a totalitarian enactment and anti-American.

I've never returned a Spydie either.

It is a bit of change to keep tied up in a knife you don't like, and a nice thought that it will find a better home.

I'm going to keep mine for at least a while and re-visit after a bit. Sometimes knives I don't care for on initial examination grow on me as time passes.

So many folks love the Milli, I may just not be in the right mood to appreciate it.
I've had other blades I didn't care for at first, but came to appreciate...hope this is another one.

This is sage advice. I don't even care to admit the knives I've traded or sold after a brief and boring honeymoon, only to regret it and try to buy them back later. Of course, by then, the price almost always doubles or triples. Never again.

I accidentally stabbed myself in the ass with mine while playing kung fu one night.
I decided I had to keep it after that.

That, and I'm hoping it was also an honest effort to kindly not pass along his derriere-plasma to an unsuspecting victim! :p

Good point <ahem>.

And hopefully no one will make the normal request: "pics or it didn't happen".

I had one, briefly. I liked it for the most part. Unfortunately mine had an off center blade, and I couldn't get it centered no matter what I tried. I decided to return it, and now I'm trying to decide if I want another. The tip-down only carry was a bit of a turn-off for me, plus I found I liked my PM2's a bit more than Mille. I think I'm going to order a P3 this week, and then order another Millie later on down the road. I just feel like I need to have one, despite any of the drawbacks.
