Disappointed Spydie Millie!

Again I wasn't saying the Millie is a bad knife. I was simply stating that I dont think its going to work for me. Now the para 2 fits my hand but i wish it had the liner lock instead of that lock in the back. Weird spot for a lock?

One of the strongest locks ever designed. I prefer this to a liner lock all day, "accidental" disengagement is virtually nonexistent. Unlocking is easy enough to do with a pinch of the thumb and index finger.
Yeah, I had thought about this subject too. If I were looking for a military with a lock-back and g10, it would be the police because the endura is more the replaceable frn. Now if we could just get a para size spyderco rendition of a CS lawman/recon 1

The tip-down only carry was a bit of a turn-off for me, plus I found I liked my PM2's a bit more than Mille. I think I'm going to order a P3 this week, and then order another Millie later on down the road. I just feel like I need to have one, despite any of the drawbacks.

I actually prefer tip-down.
At this point I also prefer the Para2, great knife.
I think you will like the P3, I know I do. It just seems to have perfect balance and ergos. And I love that satisfying "thunk" when it locks open. :D

With everyone in the world loving the Millie, you do feel like you "need" to have one. Another reason I'm holding off on trading mine....all those people can't be wrong can they? :D

There really is no excuse as to why they couldnt have made an ergonomic handle with that huge handle. Needs to be redesigned!

I don't think Sal needs an excuse as to why he designed the Military the way he did. The handle is ergonomic and is the perfect size for most.

Man, why in the world do you keep taking shots at the knife??? You are getting a refund, just move on and let it go please.
Again, sorry you didn't like it.

Yeah, given the Military's overwhelming popularity and its status a flashship model for Spyderco, I wouldn't be so quick to say it needs a redesign. I'm not arguing that you find it uncomfortable, but I think it's safe to say that by and large, most folks are happy with the Military's overall comfort.

The Military has been around since 1990 something, if it didn't sell well it would have been cut long ago, from Spyderco's line just like many other models have been.
(not sure exactly the date, but I remember seeing it when I was still pretty young)

Ok I am not gonna post anymore on here. I simply stated my opinion and asked if others had similar experiences. I made it clear I am a huge Spydie fan and was not here to bash Spyderco. While the Millie might be ergonomic for some it wasn't for me. Thats all. I prob own 40 Spydies and will own more!! I am disappointed the Millie didnt work out for me. Hey Ken aren't forums the place to discuss concerns and voice your opinions? Am I missing something? I love Spyderco! I dont believe i am taking shots at them! If I upset you I apologize.

Hey Striderco, there's nothing wrong with voicing your opinion. That's definitely what we're all here to do -- share our opinions and experiences about something we all enjoy. It's just that remarks like the following --

There really is no excuse as to why they couldnt have made an ergonomic handle with that huge handle. Needs to be redesigned!

-- look more like they're being stated as fact, rather than just one man's opinion. There are several knives that I don't find comfortable, but I don't think they need to be redesigned based solely on my not getting along with them. The Military obviously wasn't for you, but it should be obvious by the knife's popularity and vocal supporters that there is actually very little wrong with its current design.

Just curious, what particular knives do you find ergonomic?

not to go ot, but
do you find the P3 a little thin?
i love mine , but it seems a little to thin for its size

That's certainly a valid point.
While not being thinner than most spydies, it is thin for its length, which may very well be why it feels so good in the hand.

I always found the Police's thinness to be part of its appeal: a lot of edge in a really slim package, which helps cut down on bulk; likely welcome relief for folks who carry a lot of gear on the outside of their uniform. Like the Endura, you have to love a thin profile to fully appreciate its design. Depending on your preferences, you might actually find any other similar-length knives are too thick. I kinda do.

The handle on the military is large so it can be easily gripped while wearing gloves. Try holding it with gloves on.

Maybe the OP is missing a finger or two because the majority of the knife community considers the Millitary to be perfectly ergonomic and comfortable.
Such a great design, and it rides in the pocket like a knife that's half its size.
I feel obligated to defend some knives and the Millitary is one of em'.

The Military is one of my favorite knives, period. I enjoy it's larger handle and blade length. Knives are a tool and the edge is there for cutting. Used properly a knife will be a faithful companion. I have never broken the tip off of a knife. IMO, the Military is a well built and tough knife. There are many on this forum that share the same opinion. The only negative I can think of is the fact that I only have one Military at the moment.

I'm sorry to hear you didn't like yours. On the positive - there are a lot of knives out there to choose from. You'll find what you are looking for.
