Discovery Channel has fired Cody Lundin

I agree. I really see little that Joe can contribute to a survival situation with Matt there. With Cody and Dave there was a lot less disparity in their skills and a better show. With Matt it looks as like they would be better off with him partnered with an average "Joe" where Matt would be teaching, a la "Man, woman, wild".

About the killing in survival shows.

I am not a big fan of neither the grunting nor the touching the animal and thanking him for its meat or something. If you need to kill something, do it quick and as painless as possible. Circle of life. In the wild, you hunt and kill to survive and since we are humans and not animals we should honor our prey by ending its life fast. No need to grunt like an animal or to try to get in touch with its spirit. Seems like cheap showmanship to me. I hunt and i have never done it and so hasnt any other hunter i know.

Screw the theatrics. A good, clean kill is all that is needed.
I'm not a hunter and admittedly a bit of hippy myself. Even semi-vegetarian but I agree with you. No fuss just kill it as quickly as possible and get on with it.
Joe is an idiot. Did he seriously just jump back into the pit looking for the glasses lenses when he's partnered with a guy who can make fire with a few sticks? What the hell.

I know right? I even thought it was funny that the experienced climber warned him that he might have a problem getting back up a second time. And he did. The guy is just bull headed. He needs to stop talking and start listening.

With the amount of discussion it continues to generate, it doesn't seem to matter how much of an idiot he is. Mission accomplished.

Grahams gravity-enhanced bow drill impressed me no end. I thought he could start building a wooden factory in the jungle.

Is his Condor knife modified ? Looks like a rear-end-shortened Condor jungle machete, like some of the blade was used for the handle and the true tang cut away, as the trademark eye-hole out front seems intact. It was hard to spot the handle.

Mr. Teti has to be careful. He could be the real loser of this season.

I stated on another thread, I think Matt Graham is better than Cody, Dave and Joe combined. I don't think Joe could tie his shoes.

Yeah, I enjoy Matt a lot as well. Joe is my least favorite of the 4 guys who have been on DS.

his knife looks like a modified condor jungle bowie.

Matt Graham showed some new outdoors tricks which surprised me. Plus, his appreciation of nature and demeanor makes me think he'll surpass Cody (except maybe in the humor department. We'll see :) )

I've been wanting to know myself. It's not a clip point like the Condor, does that mean he modified it to be more of a drop point? I think I saw this knife somewhere, but can't place it.

The grip of the knife seems still intact. Didn´t they make such a short version once ?

Agreed. I would actually prefer a show just with Matt by himself. In this last episode, Joe really got on my nerves, even more than usual.

Thank you thank you for showing this! Now I want one (Jungle bowie), but the Condor combat machete looks like a better chopper :)
