discussing Strider?

As long as the knife maker is good to their customers and they make a good product, I could care less what their past is. People make mistakes, and people change as they get older. If you're adamant about dwelling on the past then don't buy his knives.... as simple as that. There's a custom knife maker who I don't really like as a person because he just seems like a douche-bag, but he makes absolutely AMAZING knives. I told myself that I won't go so far as to sell all of the knives I own made by him, but I don't think I will be buying anymore in the future. I like his knives so much that I was going to make most of my collection consisting of his work, but after dealing with him I don't care for them anymore. It's just a personal choice.... nobody put a gun to your head to force you to buy their knives.

I've made a TON of mistakes in my life.......I mean a boatload. I can always give others second, and third chances as that has been done for me many times when I didn't deserve it. If/when I can afford a knife that costs what a Strider costs I will be happy to buy one. A Strider is the only knife I would consider for around $500.

Everybody messes up.....some more than others. I guarantee that there are a good amount of folks on this forum that have things that they would not like to have brought up over and over again.......hell even just once. Myself included.

I think when it comes down to it Mick is a good dude. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until he shows me otherwise.

I'm off to shave my head with a Mach 3 and fondle my Dalton custom.

Wasn't there a time when Chris Reeve was mean to a guy at Blade Show that he may have had prior history with, and right after that, he and his YT buddies went on rants and sold all their CRK's, and their exposé on Chris's meanness was going to sink the brand?

Damn I love my Sebenzas.

And to add to my unbiased review of the SnG after 1 week, I also received my 3" XM this week. It too has a LBS screw that sticks through the frame which the internet told me is only a Strider f/f issue at this price point, and the XM has some nice gouges, er, machining marks, er, "character marks" as I've read, all in the lockbar cutout that the SnG does not have. Great knives and like both in their own way though neither perfect.

Or when the Junglas was used to kill a pig and then that guy sold off all his ESEE knives. :D
I love the drama about trivial things; my wife has soap operas, and I have knife people.

There will always be those willing to look past the character, or lack there of, of others if they have something people desire, be that money, fame, or in this instance, knives.

It is what it is, if you like their knives enough to look past it, then that's your choice and nobody is telling you that you're wrong for doing so, but don't downplay it like all Mick and Duane did was lie about their age on match.com or belittle those that hold people to a higher standard.

I love these threads; it's just like a soap opera.
You can ignore them for months at a time, and when you go back, it's like you never missed a beat. :D

Yeah, tell me about it.....

DRAMA....

I just love people who judge others...... Like they are perfect and have never done anything wrong in their entire life...

If strider had a sub forum again I think it may cut down on people sharing there negative experiences with strider so much.

There is so much misinformation being thrown around and that's a lot of the issue a long with some who just parrot what they have heard or read someplace else...

It's the internet so it happens....

People love drama and the negative......

I love the knives. As for Mick having a "shady" past or mistakes he made a long time ago I could care less. He's not the only guy who has screwed up in the past. I'm not going to judge him on those things, I don't want people to judge me for mistakes I made decades ago. When I think of the person I was back then and things I did in my youth it makes me cringe. For the past 15 years I've built a small business, nothing like Strider knives. I have customers that trust me and are loyal to me. I've earned it. I think Mick Strider has too, he created designs that so many like and pay a lot of money for, that's not easy to do. How many guys are out there making knives? I hear from many that they end up giving them away. Striders success probably bothers those that dislike him, a trait common to humans and one I personally loathe. Nunya.

Mick Strider is one of the better Custom makers around and has an excellent reputation in that circle with a number of awards under his belt over the years.

I would say he has done very well. :)

Just like a bunch of women in a sewing circle dragging the same old BS up over and over....... And over and over....... And over and over........

What's so funny is it is always the post like the one above that brings it back to the front page. That post brought it back today, and when it gets brought back again it will be the same drama. Not a thing wrong with his post, but it is always the one's similar to his that brings these back to the front page.
It really, really bothers many that some don't care for Strider, lol.
If someone doesn't like a knife company(or owner) I like it doesn't get me all worked up, or bother me in the least for that matter.
Funny stuff.

I could care less if someone likes Strider knives or not.....

It's the drama that gets me......

And people forget how all of this drama started in the 1st place......

It was Lynn Thompson that stated it all and it blew up from there and got out of control.....

Damn I love my Sebenzas.

If Microtech's shenanigans couldn't sink their own brand, a few youtubers sure as heck wouldn't be able to touch a brand like CRK.
At the end of the day people will buy a quality product. It does get tiring seeing the gun and knife communities act like teenage gossip queens over alleged transgressions

Are you sure? I thought the brouhaha on this forum with all the proof of the misdeeds of the SKI crew happened well before Lynn's ad. Any OCD's out there to clarify?

All the negative info on the web has been totally contrary to my experience with Strider knives. I really don't believe much I read on the internet at face value. I love the SnG design and of the many I have owned I have had only 1 small problem that needed to be addressed, and that did not effect it's function. I think their quality control is pretty good at least in the last 6 or so years I have been purchasing knives from them. I have never had any problem getting hold of Josh at Strider, though being a small company I am sure at times he is very busy. Whenever I have had contact with Mick he has been very gracious in answering my questions. As to his past, I really don't know what is true and what is not. He treats me well and that is all I ask. His past is just that.

Yeah, I remember when it started....
