I ordered a knife (thru Hiker Knife) on 12/11/2008 from Fehrnam and was hopeing to receive it by Xmas. I was always told the last day to order on line was 12/18/08 if you wanted to receive the item by Xmas. It would of been good business to get this out before Xmas. So I'm a little dissapointed with their service.

Did the Fehrman Knife and Tool Company always tell you that? If they didn't, did you contact the company before your purchase to make sure the Thru Hiker was in stock?

It sucks to not get a wanted gift under the tree for Christmas, but from the little you wrote, it doesn't sound like Fehrman provided you with bad service.

I don't see that you have anything to bitch about.

"I was always told" doesn't carry much weight. It carries zero weight unless a company representative gave you a promise of a specified delivery time.

Yeah, last time it was this(because Busse's booth wasn't up and running as their rep was in the hospital getting a heart condition checked out):
I took the day off. Had $600 dollars in my pocket (incentive rebate) and headed up to the Indy 1500 show hopeing to buy a BUSSE satin AD or satin BAD (with blue or marron G-10 if luck was with me). Also I was wanting to buy something else. I was there from 2:00 to 3:30 and BUSSE didn't show up. I took the day off, drove 3 hours there and back, plus spent my time, gas money and entrance fee money; all because BUSSE said they would be there. Needless to say I'm not a happy camper. I have bough at least six knifes and a crash axe in the last 6 months. This is unsatisfacory. I just ordered another Busse from the last GANZA. If it wasn't already in the mail I would cancel my order. This is poor customer service and I expected more from BUSSE.
Do you want to apologize to Eric & Co. now, or do like last time and wait until after a few dozen more people have called you a jackass for posting this?

This is a piss poor reason to post in feedback. The universe doesnt revolve around you....and you need to apologize to Fehrman and lock this thread.

suttond, you are behaving trollishly, pure and simple. Your track record is not good here.

well, if you wanted fast, you could have ordered a cold steel. Shouldn't you be happy that it takes longer to get a knife. This means that they don't have thousands just sitting around. I say, you quit instead of always calling the waambulance when things don't go your way..

Sutton, sounds like your complaint is with Hiker knives, not Fehrman.

I suggest you contact Hiker Knives, and get this resolved.

As for the rest of you in this thread, I would highly suggest keeping it on topic, and keeping the snide comments to yourselves.

Mike, I am pretty sure he ordered the "Thru Hiker" from Fehrman. The "Thru Hiker" is a model of theirs.

Still, it would be nice to know if Fehrman mentioned it would arrive before Christmas or not.

initially, i read it as purchased "thru (through) Hiker Knife (a separate company)".

your probably right, what he likely meant was: Purchased a Thru Hiker Model Knife from Ferhman Knives.

still, if Ferhman shipped the knife when the say, they have no control once it leaves their shop. sutton, was there some sort of guarantee given? or was the date simply the last order date that could possibly get the knife there by xmas?

Would have been a good idea to check with Ferhman to see what day it went out, before posting here wouldn't it?

DO you know if they did ship it on time?

Fehrman have no control over what day a shipping company will actually get the knife to you. I am very surprised that with such a short time between 12/18 and 12/25 that they would give that as the last day you would have to get your order in.

With all the storms spread accross the entire continental USA all week, you really can't blame anyone. Transportation companies have weather disclaimers in small print.

Were you told this by Fehrman? They usually have a 2 week period in normal mailing times, let alone Christmas. From the wording of your post, it sounds like you assumed.

It's understandable either way. To be honest the whole post was very poorly written leaving it hard to really know what Suttond was trying to say. Quite ambiguous. :)

Nothing is even slightly clear, except that no knife was received for Christmas day. Even then, we are not directly told and have to decipher that for ourselves...

If the knife was in stock (huge word for only having two letters), a two week lead time (suttond said he ordered on the 11th) isn't an unreasonable expectation even with all of the crappy weather, but we won't know what's what until suttond.

I think OwenM was right on the money. GB&U is all about character. OwenM just posted up a character remark. Very fair game IMO!

exactly.

reread again, and it certainly appears he made the assumption that anything purchased over the net by the date would be delivered by xmas.

he doesn't say Ferhman said this.
