Dissapointed with Fehrman

If the knife was in stock (huge word for only having two letters), a two week lead time (suttond said he ordered on the 11th) isn't an unreasonable expectation even with all of the crappy weather, but we won't know what's what until suttond.

its not unreasonable, but unless Ferhman promised a delivery by xmas, his complaint has no merit.

Yeah, last time it was this(because Busse's booth wasn't up and running as their rep was in the hospital getting a heart condition checked out):

Do you want to apologize to Eric & Co. now, or do like last time and wait until after a few dozen more people have called you a jackass for posting this?

I think it sucks and is in real poor taste that you bring something up from the past. I already apologized for that, so let it go. As for Ferhman I didn't say anything bad about them, I just stated that I was dissapointed with their delivery time; thats what this forum is for, rather you agree with it or not.

I agree, if Fehrman made such a promise, then it is up to them to live up to it. I wonder if an email to Eric would elicit a response from him as to whether such a promise was made?

You did more than that. You have left the impression that you were informed that if you got the order in by 12/18/08 that you would have the knife by Christmas. Since that didn't happen, you are insinuating that they didn't live up to an agreement they had with you.

did you ever discuss delivery time with Fehrman Knives?

did they say it would be delivered by xmas?

you may feel the other post is in bad taste, but it shows a pattern of behavior. you make a complaint about a company without providing all pertinent information.

That's why I paid extra attention to the word "IF." Smells whiny to me, but I don't know what suttond did or didn't get told and he apparently doesn't want me to know. He makes it the business of every reader to know he's unsatisfied with Fehrman Knife and Tool, but keeps most of the relevant details of said business private. :thumbdn:

Cheers to OwenM for being the only guy not on suttond's ignore list!

I ordered a knife (thru Hiker Knife) on 12/11/2008 from Fehrnam and was hopeing to receive it by Xmas. I was always told the last day to order on line was 12/18/08 if you wanted to receive the item by Xmas. It would of been good business to get this out before Xmas. So I'm a little dissapointed with their service.

I found this thread to be misleading. The second sentence "I was always told the last day to order on line was 12/18/18 if you wanted to receive the item by Xmas." very confusing to say the least. Does the OP mean that he communicated with Fehrman and that that is what they told him? Or is this just a general statement about ordering an "item " before Christmas - a potato masher, tennis shoes, knives, what? the thread is about Fehrman knives, but the statement is curious at best. I have been very interested in Fehrman knives and have not yet pulled the trigger on one, but all my communications with them have been prompt and to the point. Eric has stated in an email about ordering a knife from them that they usually try and keep blanks on hand and when they receive an order, they will produce the knife. If I remember correctly, Eric stated in his email to me that it usually took 2 to 3 weeks to get a blade out the door. Several responders have asked the OP to reply directly to this question - did you get this reply from Fehrman - did they state they would get it shipped out by the 18th? That is a very short time period to produce what I would consider a semi custom production knife. Add in the weather factor and - whether the OP wants to hear it or not, his previous rant about Busse knives, I would conclude that the OP is stirring the waters again. I would like to see copies of the Email from Fehrman stating they would ship by the 18th - if this is provided, I would like to know when it was shipped and by what service and when it arrived. Everything I have seen or heard about Fehrman has been exemplary and I really do not like seeing their name dragged through the mud by someone with unrealistic expectations. If I am incorrect about the statements I have made, I will offer an apology in advance. However, based on what I know about Fehrman and what I have seen from the OP in the past, I would like to see something in writing backing up the OPs statements.

steve, i would put very little stock i what the op posted.

he's been back, and has yet to answer pointed questions several of us posed.

get the ferhman, don't let anything here dissuade you.

I put absolutely no stock in what the OP has posted. I brought up the busse thread because he is doing the same thing here - trashing (or trying to) one of the best knife companies around. I have enjoyed reading about Fehrman knives ever since I started participating in Bladeforums. Everything I have read about Fehrman knives with the exception of what the OP has written, has been positive to say the least. If it weren't for the excellent deals that keep popping up in the sales forums and the Spyderco catalog, I would be the proud owner of 3-4 of Erics knives. When I place my order for one of Erics knives, I will do so knowing that I am buying an excellent knife at a great price, backed up by a very good company.

I love my Fehrmans. I'd happily wait for more and I would be skeptical of any
"understanding" about timely shipping that close to christmas. It may be a legitimate complaint, it may be a misunderstanding, it may be specious crap.
Whatever. Fehrman makes excellent knives and I wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

The only thing that sucks is that you have demonstrated a propensity to file very public and ridiculously unreasonable complaints, so pardon our skepticism. This skepticism has been compounded by you -- in this thread -- via your complaints about our reaction, yet you offer nothing to make your case either more specific or even remotely believable.

And so, you waste our time while trying to denigrate yet another maker/manufacturer in these forums with a ludicrous cry for attention.

You sir, have demonstrated some serious malfunctions in logic and reason, and you continue to do so.

Your apology means nothing if you keep compulsively repeating the behavior. THAT is the only thing in poor taste.

My last Fehrman order (4 knives) took several months, probably because they waited until the last knife was finished before shipping as a lot. I was very pleased to get such high quality knives delivered so quickly.

Why are some people so damn impatient?

I am dissapointed with your whole post.

Did or have you even talked with Fehrman ???

Who told you the 18 December date?
Fehrman, Santa Claus, Mrs. Santa, or one of the elves?

Your OP gives ZERO details.
That is right..... Zero, none, nada........ and to post something like this without details ... IF you have some ....is pitiful.

And ... IF you have not even talked with Fehrman....... this post soars to Pathetic.

Sooooo....... HAVE or DID YOU TALK WITH FEHRMAN ??

Just my .02 by the way...........

heck we all probably get impatient waiting on a knife, i know i do lol, i always start wishing i woulda overnited it, & sometimes the waiting brings out the worst in us, this time of the yr shipping always takes a while, ya gotta just chill out and wait,

There is a difference between getting impatient and getting unreasonably impatient, then complaining about it in a way meant to disparage the supplier of the knife. The first is something that happens whenever someone has to wait for something they would like to have right now. The second is irresponsible.
