Dive Watches

Thanks badmatt badmatt for posting the video. I'm convinced I'm going to send my Aerospace off to Breitling after the holidays to get the spa treatment. For right now, the 394/Energizer equivalent that the local shop installed is still in it, with the display no lighting up. But it is the right size, right voltage, just not the high-drain it needs. The watch shop said they didn't have a source for the 380 it needs. But I managed to find them on Amazon (if they come in as actual 380s). he said he would put it in if I found one.

That should last me until I can get it sent in for the spa treatment.
That Citizen diver looks fantastic. I think I had that one on my Amazon list for forever. Never pulled the trigger, though.

If you mean mine, that Citizen diver is also very very comfortable on the wrist - the strap material feels luxurious.

I did trade two for this one... It came in last Thursday. Feels good to be wearing a Sea Dweller again!

The Sea Dweller is bad ass. Above my pay grade, though. And my ability to care for, probably.

I love and wore my SD43 for most of the summer this year, especiallywhile my DSSD Deep Blue was at Rolex for losing the lume pip on the bezel, and running slightly fast (+2.5 sec/day after I banged it hard enough to lose the lume pip). I've had the SD43 for about 3.5 years, and it has had more wrist time than the DSSD which I got early last year.

Prior to the SD43 and DSSD I was wearing my Ti Planet Ocean 9300 or my Sub No Date the most, but I used the Sub ND as partial trade towards the SD43. I just felt like the 40mm Sub looked too small on my wrist. But since I got my DSSD back from service in early September, it's gotten about 75% of my wrist time.

I really miss my Tudor Black Bay Red, which is what I used as partial trade towards the Sub ND that was traded towards the SD43, sigh... I think the Tudor was actually much cooler than the Sub ND, and I should have kept that one, especially with the Rose dial and exceptional timekeeping for the ETA movement. I may still buy another one someday, as it's actually a better looker than my Tudor Pepsi GMT with the GMT's more muted bezel colors.

citizen ny0040 diver. neat history on this model. came out around 1993, so fairly modern design. adopted by Italian navy special forces around 1997, but a certain version of it. kinda a modern but classic at the same time diver.....ive shown other versions..just not the black dial one.

I have this Vostok “Scuba Dude” which I never intended to use as a dive watch, more of a walkin around watch, but I liked it.
Anyway, it’s mechanical. I got it last December and just this past week it stopped working, lasted just about a year. Can’t send it back to Moscow but wondering if it’s worth trying to get it looked at, only originally cost me around $90 to purchase.

I know that my watchmaker will often give me a free estimate for repair, but depending on what’s wrong with that it could cost you between $50 and $150 to fix (if needs a movement).

Ok thanks. I’m going to check with my watch guy and good point about getting an estimate.

I've have a few vostoks amphibians. including. the scuba dude one like yours. one quit working and then started again. couldn't get it to run. so put it in a drawer and it sat for couple years...pulled it out to toss it. as i was walking to the trash can it started running again. still runs to this day.

these are low cost mechanicals, built more to wear for 10 years and then toss when they finally die......nothing wrong with servicing or replacing the movement if ya want to.....except the cost of the work will be more than a new watch costs.
