DLT Commence the guessing

I think ridiculously large is the essence of this knife. Pair it with a Seiko Prospex Solar Tuna, a Humvee (and if you want to go to far an Austrian accent) and you are in full on action hero hog heaven.

Nah, it's the size of a Buck 110. Goes perfectly with my '99 Fatboy. The original 3V Tuff version, that is. :)

The knife is not large at all if those specs are accurate. It is heavy though, given it’s length, so the blade must be very thick. I don’t see mentioning of the cutting edge but based on the size of that choil it appears to be about 3 inches?

Except for the choil, it's pretty much the same size as your ZT0561, SE. A little heavier because of back-spacer and different grind (slicer vs. saber). Thickness is identical (4mm).

Unless they changed the specs, 0.16" thick blade, 3.75" blade length, 3.0" cutting edge length.

Dergyll's very scientific scale of knife buy:
Score either -1, 0, or 1. You need a 2 to pass:

Good value
Pretty/cool
Functional

For me personally, this knife is:
Good value: 0
Pretty/cool: -1
Functional: 1

So, I didn't buy one. Take a knife like the 20CV KJ Manix LW for 126$
Good value: 1
Pretty/cool: 1
Functional: 1

Or the Elementum:
Good value: 1
Pretty/cool: 0
Functional: 1

Sorry, I'm sitting here waiting for food to heat up so have time to kill :)

Why is this still in stock? Very surprised.
It's expensive and a niche knife.

I love the original version that ferider ferider was kind enough to sell to me, (he kept one for himself), but unless you're a 3V fan, (or Cru-Wear in this case), or looking for a stout, overbuilt knife to fill a particular role, it may not be one's cup of tea.

I received mine today and it’s an extremely well built blade. Fit and finish is top notch. Lock up is perfect with a touch of stick. I am a fan of this beast. My only grip is typical of many of the knives coming out of Taiwan, the detent is on the weak side. I can shake the blade open. After handling this knife, I don’t have an issue with the price point.

Absolutely not the case on my example of one original. It takes a bit of horsepower to get it open. No way to shake it open.

Typical Taichung quality and everything I'd hoped for in ergonomics! Mine also has a good detent with unbelievable smooth action! Love it😀IMG_23072021_172004_(1400_x_788_pixel).jpg

It does look unique and sturdy but man that finger choil looks ridiculously large and wasting a good portion of the cutting edge. Plus, at this price point, is a titanium liner too much to ask for?
I am still hung up on the blasted titanium frame lock paired with a shiny steel liner on the G10 side. They do not match and it looks out of place.

Action is great for a Taichung Frame lock, blade drops shut but the pocket clip placement over the lanyard hole is off enough to mention. This was taken from directly above with an iphone (aligned)

Mine arrived today. Aside from the “weak” detent, everything else is spot on. Just a really nice “Tuff” knife. I’ll be trying this out as my alternative woods pocket knife.

Wow.

Just got mine an hour ago.

Blade is a saber grind up to the fuller. I was worried it was going to be really thick behind the edge… it’s not. It’s smooth, it’s beautiful, it just oozes quality.

Sometimes you Mail order a knife it comes, it’s nice, you play with it a bit, it goes back in its box and in the big box. But every now and then you order a knife you’ve never touched before, it comes… and you think, “I would have bought this at a knife store.” Just the whole feel and personality of the knife clicks with you.

I’m very glad I bought it.

I decided not to buy one because I thought $315 was kinda steep for a Taichung model (granted I think their quality is typically the best), even though I always wanted to try the Tuff. I also thought this given the "dimple" milling was not included like the original, I assume as a cost saving measure. Similarly I thought the use of TiCn over DLC was for cost savings, but it turns out only USA made Spydies use DLC. The only blade coating I've ever liked is DLC but I've never tried TiCn before.

That said, mine arrived today. 😁 Very glad I pulled the trigger!

Feeling the quality, $315 is a bargain especially given it is Cruwear. This is hands down the nicest frame lock action I've ever had on a Spyderco. Smoothness of the blade action is superb. It rivals my Gayle Bradley 1 but is just less "loose" feeling.

It can easily be thumb flicked open, lock side index finger or middle finger flicked open, as well as Spydie dropped open. It is not quite able to drop shut on its own but a little wrist jiggle and it does.

The fit and finish are typical Taichung awesomeness and the Tuff is VERY comfortable, especially with all the chamfering around the handle. I also love how thin the knife is overall, yet it is still comfortable and doesn't feel boxy in hand. Lockup is also rock solid; no play at all. Disengages easily but not too easily (i.e. it is perfect) and lockup is right at 50% with zero stick.

My only couple gripes are that the black color of the pivot screws and clip are a lighter black than the blade and body screws. My OCD would prefer them all to match. I also think the liner should have been either blasted to match the titanium lockside, or blacked to match the blade and hardware; the shiny silver color just seems out of place. Lastly I am nervous the TiCn won't hold up over time but I am willing to give it a fair shake.

All in all I think $315 for this bad boy is a steal when you factor in the build quality.

TiCN is extremely "TUFF" when properly applied, I wouldn't worry about it not holding up! Congrats on your new blade!
