Review DLT Trading co.

I buy the majority of my dealer knives during the 2 factory authorized sales. They didn't participate in the Christmas sale so I didn't buy anything from them.
I'm thinking it's sorta hard to obtain customer loyalty by not participating in a factory authorized sale.....

Buy 2 or above and get $5.00 off (each).
That puts you into Free shipping. Save $6

You need to spend money to make money.

Just purchased a Buck 110 Ultimate Hunter S35VN - Limited Edition - Black Linen Micarta 110BKSOK and unlike my other 110's this one has lateral blade play when open.

Got the knife yesterday, cleaned and oiled it and put a thumb stud on it. Haven't even cut anything with it, just opened and closed it to break it in. While doing so I realized the blade was moving which surprised me as none of my 110's have the slightest bit of blade play.

Called DLT Trading and spoke to someone that referred to himself as Hammer and he spoke very rudely to me. I ended the conversation with just email me a RMA, but $100 is $100 and his offer to me was to ship it back for "EVALUATION" and then a refund or replacement might be authorized. This spoke to me as they don't need my business and don't care so I will continue to deal with Buck in Idaho and stick to customs from here on out.

Jordan has done me right the couple times I had problems with stuff I bought from dlt.
My black Micarta 110 had a wobbly blade too, but I liked the knife so i decided not to return it. I sent it back to the “Buck Mothership” in Idaho. It was back in a couple weeks with zero wobble. I wish it was right in the first place - because I love some instant gratification! But in the end I was very happy.

I'm surprised. I've always had good dealings with them. I consider them one of the better dealers. hope it gets solved for ya.

If that is what it will take to get it right then I will send it to Buck, being the holiday season I may not receive it back until January but, I have a custom being built that should come before Christmas so I will just be patient.

I understand DLT Trading has a fairly good reputation in the community that is why I was surprised at the response I got. They shipped fast and the ordering process was efficient. The call for customer service was not in line with my expectations. I was even considering ordering the same knife again, and also waiting for another Buck 110 offering in S35VN from them, but that won't happen now. The one issue I had with a Buck from the factory with a 345 was taken care of swiftly and pleasantly.

DLT has done good for me. Except maybe when they don’t have what I’m looking for lol.

I don’t know but it could be that the person you spoke to was having a bad day and after several complaints was just not coping well. It happens, I get that way myself when I’m trying but things aren’t connecting and understanding isn’t happening. It takes two to tango and two to misunderstand.

I am just a customer, my only requirement is to be treated with respect when I am doing business with you. If you are not prepared to deal with your customers don't answer the phone, let someone else do it. I ran my own computer business for decades while pastoring a church, doing homeless and prison ministry and I don't think I am a hard fellow to get along with, that is until you disrespect me.

DLT Trading may be all of that and a bag of chips, in this situation their customer service was sorely lacking.

Maybe one should just note that their customer service didn't meet their expectations.......

Anything more is really unnecessary.

So noted, yet as to what is necessary, just who is it that dictates that? When did the freedom to express one's side of a story end? When is only a majority opinion tolerated or given breath to?

I’ve talked to Hammer before. At first I thought the same thing. Wasn’t really listening and didn’t really care. But I’ll be darned if he didn’t call me back using his caller ID, to give me an answer and offer a solution. He really is knowledgeable and friendly. Probably just didn’t want to commit to statement when he wasn’t 100% sure.
The only other person to call me back using their caller ID is a gentleman named Kevin that works in Buck customer service. He had given me an answer to an issue I had with a purchase, but later called back and literally apologized for “blowin smoke up yer rear”(exact words). And then explained how he went and hunted down the right answer. It’s one of the main reasons I regularly buy from both.

I've had no issues with DLT. I've bought all sorts of knives from them.

Perhaps an email to someone else at the company would yield better results, rather than relying on someone by the name of Hammer.
lol.....

this name reminds me of a fellow at a wholesaler named jackhammer. not his real name but he lives by it. has it across his car windshield. answers the phone using it. has it on his business cards etc etc. he insists everyone calls him it. I can't do it. needless to say he don't like me much.

a name like hammer aint gonna come across well.

not making fun of the complaint sure its real, just this hit me funny. I'm easily amused sometimes.

I have had stellar service from DLT and have ordered many knives from them over the years. Never one adverse experience. Just got a Buck GCK from them a few months ago, when they were hard to come by at the time. DLT to my door in 3 days. In my opinion DLT is a great retailer.

Sent an Email to warranty@buckknives.com before I saw this post. Thank you, I will take you up on that offer.

Sorry to hear you had a less than stellar experience with DLT. :( They're one of my favorites and have always done right by me.

As you already know from experience, Buck will take great care of you! I've had to send exactly one knife in to them, a BotM 55 that had a scar in the Micarta and was overheated around the pins a bit. What was sent back to me greatly exceeded my expectations... In fact, other knife companies should probably be a little upset with the Buck warranty department for setting such a high bar, lol.

I have placed two orders from DLT and I've been very satisfied both times. The shipping to Canada is somewhat reasonable and very quick.
