When receiving items I have paid for, regardless of the monetary value, it is PO BOX all the way for me. I still get a little surprised when sellers are hesitant to ship to my PO Box-- "Are you sure it will be ok in the PO Box?" Of course it will. I get a slip in my box and go to the counter and sign for it.
I live on a 1/4 mile long road that the PO will not deliver on. Sometimes it can be a REAL hassle having items shipped to my street address. I had an item that UPS tried to deliver that needed to be signed for. They left a slip saying they would deliver the next day between 2 and 5pm. I actaully took off work to be home that afternoon. I arrived at home at 12:30 and they had already tried to deliver again. So then I have to arrange to pick it up at the UPS service center, take time out of the next day at work to go pick it up myself.
Two expensive items particularly stand out. On one occasion UPS or FedEx got my retired neighbor to sign for it. He neglected to tell me he had a package for me for about a week. On another occasion they left a package in a thin plastic bag tied to a fence at the top of my driveway. I spend no time at the top of my driveway, the bag broke, the package landed in the leaves and sat for days in the rain before I found it.
