Do you also carry fixed blades around the house?

For discretion’s sake, it’s usually folders for me or small fixed blades when outside. Indoors however, it’s pretty satisfying to carry medium sized blades (5” to about 7” blade length) without worry. Do you have a home carry setup?

Just what I can place beside me by the couch, so I can pick it up and play with it. Small fixed blades and one or two medium ones. Try to keep a folder in a nylon pouch in my pocket. So not an at home carry system. Sounds like you are ready for any kitchen work.

Now, when I was younger ( maybe 10) and no one else was around, I used to wear a fixed blade made of wood in a card board sheath ( and shorts and a t shirt just in case you were wondering) and pretend I was Tarzan and go climb the tree in the backyard. And while I still feel a desire to do that again, my age and weight prevent that, plus I do not want my family to think I have gone completely bonkers. 🤪 So…..I like to carry a small fixed blade like a JK in a kydex sheath in my front pocket, that is as daring as I get now for a fixed blade, admittedly, the folder gets more use but I still like small fixed blades, especially bird and trout type knives. I would love to get a Horsewright Sonoran belt knife or Tapadero Knife, and horizontal carry. That would be my new idea of fun!!:)

Yep. Since January it's been a neck carry ESEE 3, whether home or not. Sometimes another as well.

I live in the suburbs, and so if I'm at home, it's generally whatever folder(s) I carried while at work that day, plus the several others I've usually got on my side table. I have zero need for a fixed blade around the house, and am generally not wearing a belt, so it's a no-go from me. If I lived out in a rural area, where at any time I might find myself doing outside work, then I probably would.

I find much more need for a multitool than a fixed blade around the house. If I am carrying a fixed blade, it's because one of my oft carried and favorite knives is a Fiddleback Forge Monarch. It's shorter overall than many of my edc folding knives but very broad in the blade and obviously more robust.

Now in the backyard I might strap on a khuk or bowie if I want to go prune back some of the bushes with more fun and gusto, but generally, my edc needs in or out of the house can be handled by folders.

I sometimes EDC a small fixed blade outside the house but that generally involves wearing a belt. I don't wear a belt around the house. At home, I'm usually wearing flannel pants or the like. That usually means a small folder but once in a while, it means a small neck knife. Curiously, I don't wear neck knives outside the home unless I'm doing an aquatic activity where it makes sense.

Smatchet. My son suggested that I do a reverse "here's Johnny!" if someone knocks on the door. (he gets it)

Fixed blades are my passion. While I don't carry one around the house, I usually have one close by in case I start to go through the knife junkie withdrawals and need a quick fix... Or in "normal person" terms, I get bored and want something to fidget with.

Yes - I have a Mora & a Schrade Bowie next to my spot on the couch. As the commercial on TV says..."In these uncertain times...."..... & yes - - fidget factor plays a big part :D

On the weekends lately I've been keeping an ESEE Izula with me around the house, particularly if I'm doing some yard work.
Small, sturdy, no fussing to open it... it's a tool that does what it does well.
Those fellas at ESEE sure know what they're doing.

I love the Izula. Lives in my pocket when I go out. Great compact knife.

Do you mean out on the property, or do you mean actually in the house like all day while doing nothing?

I have a folding blade on me each minute of the day, and a firearm most of the time as well, If I'm outside, I usually have a fixed blade, but unless there is a specific reason I don't strap on a fixed blade to watch a movie or play xbox.

Any of those two, hehe.

Yeah, I usually don’t strap it on my person as well. I just put it near me when doing university stuff or playing PS4.
