Do you bring your knife to Church?

When asked at church one day if he was carrying a knife, a former Pastor of mine grinned an said "I'm wearing pants, aren't I ?!" ;)

I love Church, and I guess one of the reasons for that is that I have fortunately never felt out of place to be myself. I always have a pocket knife, and unless I am preaching on Sunday morning,(thus in a suit).
I always have my SOG Vision (which i will give a rest as soon as I get my small Seb in a couple of days :D ) and a multitool on my belt.

I understand the views against carrying in church, and I would never do it if I thought it would inhibit someone elses worship, but I'm thankful I have never been in a situation where i felt prohibited from being myself - and myself likes knives ;)

I do however live in a pretty "farm oriented" community, and there are many in our congregation who also carry their knives/ multiools as EDC for obvious reasons.

We just come as we are, whether from the office or from the farm.

This has been a great thread.

Most my knives are tools, but some are weapons. I'd carry both where they are legal. I won't make a scene of it though. I'm not going to carry a rifle or a katana just for the sake of carrying a weapon. I see no problem with carrying a knife or a weapon to church. Early settlers to the US often brought their muskets and churches were sometimes used to store the community's powder.

This stupid camp rule is NOT a Boy Scout tradition. I attended services as a Scout and we NEVER had anything like this. This looks like it could be one or more of three things. First, it could be a rule because the Scoutmasters are a bunch of PC anti-kinfe idiots. The second is that it could be a rule made just so there would be more rules to follow. Unfortunately the BSA sometimes attracts wanna-be dictators who make rules simply for the sake of having more rules. It makes no sense but there are people like that. The third possbility is that they actually do like knives and plan to slip out during the services and find a couple nice ones for their Scouts to "lose."

Were I a Scout a policy like that wouldn't bother me much. I'd just leave a knockoff by a company like Joy, Fury, or Maxam outside the church and keep my good ones with me. :D
