Pro-tip: Never give a warning, never threaten. Why tip off the enemy?

To quote the sage, Tuco: "When you gotta shoot, shoot. Don't talk."
I served 3 years in the U.S. Army 7th Infantry, Bayonet Division. Our specialty we were trained for was fighting with knives. I wonder how many people on this forum have any idea of how to fight with one.

If I have pants or shorts on I have a knife in my pocket. If I’m wearing sweats sometimes I’ll have a flannel shirt on and I may toss one in a shirt pocket. I have cutting tools everywhere in the house but it just seems too simple to grab one out of my pocket to cut something vs walking in the other room to grab a knife.

I can't say I "carry" a knife at home really. I just don't need to. I have so many spread out around the house, there's always one within arms reach. There's 5 sitting on the table right next to me as I type this.

I normally carry 2 knives. One is used as a money clip and the other gets used for everyday tasks. When I’m dressed for the duties of the day my knives are with me.

I just sneak up from behind on a cold, foggy night.

They never see it coming.

Knife fighting? Oh hell no. Nope. No way. (Though I do own a Randall 1-7. That's close enough for me.)

😁

I often carry a knife on me at home, but I don't really need to because my home has (usually multiple) knives in every room and workstation area, as well as knives in outdoor sheds, so there's never any of those of "if only there was a sharp and pointy tool handy right about now" moments.

I use my office desk as a staging area, to pick current use knives and save going through the entire collection to figure out what I want to carry on a given day, so there's 10-20 knives in my desk, as well as an axe beside it.

My girlfriend also appreciates that if she's in the kitchen there's a knife to use on packaging that's always handy, and if she's in the chicken supply shed there's always a couple knives there for packaging or to prep food for the chickens. It also means I can put a Morakniv or Hori Hori garden knife where she does garden prep, so she's not using my Benchmade Sibert Bushcrafter or Fallkniven F1 to dig around in the garden with. Everyone's a winner.

If I am dressed I almost always have a blade on me.

This whole thread makes me think: if you're home, and unless you're naked for some reason, why WOULDN'T YOU haver a knife on you?

Since you asked, and since I am one of the few who said I don't carry a knife in my home, I will answer for myself.

I hardly have any use for a knife in my home. I don't typically experience urgent situations in my home where having a knife on my person would mean the difference between life or death. On the rare occasion that I need a knife, it's easy enough for me to reach over and pick one up, or even GASP! walk into the next room to get one. In fact, if I'm sitting down it's easier to just reach over and pick one up than digging one out of my pocket.

I use scissors far more than I use knives in my home, but I'm not going to carry a pair of scissors around all day in a belt sheath.

I use a flashlight more than I use knives and scissors combined, but I don't carry one of those around all day either. I have several located around my home out in the open where I can just grab one in the dark.

And I use my smart phone far more than I use all of those other things combined, but I don't feel the need to have my phone on my body all day either. In fact, I often intentionally leave it in a different room.

Perhaps I just don't like knives as much as the rest of you, I don't feel the need to have one on my person at all times, especially when I don't need one, and there are several around if I do.

Only if I'm wearing pants without pockets, which means I haven't left the apartment. If I go anywhere else in the building, be it to the laundry room, lobby, or the dumpsters in the garage, I've got a knife on me (our mail carrier was held at gunpoint by robbers who wanted her keys to this building and all others on our street), and DAMN sure if I leave the building I have one on me.

Ever since the 4th or 5th grade and that's been a very long time ago. Had a teacher who asked all the boys in the class how many of you have a pocket knife? The ones who didnt she asked what is wrong with you?

Sooo, what do you do when you come home, empty your pockets? Put everything you carry on the dresser or table?

My thinking is, of you have pants on, then your equipped with the normal stuff you carry daily. My EDC pocket knife is a small SAK, and I can't begin to list all the uses I have found of fit while home. A loose screw on something? My screw driver is right in my pocket on my SAK. A rough nail that needs filing? My SAK is there. The spousal unit needs a plastic piece tag cut off, my little SAK is right there. A power outage at 9 something at night while watching TV? my little Fenix E01vs whatever is right there in my pocket. No need to go look for a light.

I figure my EDC doesn't stop until I go to bed. Then my stuff in on my bedside table to include my revolver.

Everything I carry when I go out gets removed when I get home. I also change my jeans (from good "going out" jeans to old worn, faded ones, each pair has their own belt though), and I switch from my MC boots to sneakers. I don't carry anything when I'm relaxing at home. As I stated back in post #15, I keep various cutting tools around my home where I am most likely to need one (knives, box cutters, scissors), same with flashlights, and if I need some other tool for something, I have a variety handy.

If you prefer to carry stuff on your person at home rather than having to go get it, more power to you. I don't like to carry stuff at home, nothing jabbing me while I sit, I don't have to worry about stuff slipping out of my pockets, no knives or other stuff going through the laundry, nothing getting lost. And my need for cutting tools is never so urgent that I couldn't take a moment to walk across a room to get one (or simply pick one up from any of the several places I keep them). Different strokes.

I can't help but see irony in this, since in a recent thread you started here in GD you criticized people for carrying around more stuff than they needed (more stuff than you felt they needed), and yet, when I'm at home I carry less stuff than you, because I don't feel the need to. Although it appears that thread has been deleted.

Been running into this lately. My Classic and little Olight i1R are attached to my keys and are typically dropped in a tray when I get home. Invariably, I find something come up where I need one of those two items and have to go grab them. So, I just went on Amazon and ordered another of each item. Gonna throw them on a little loop of paracord and keep in my pocket.
