I know this is probably like asking if drinking is good for you-- at a bar full of drunks. BUT, I only carry one knife on me at a time. I just cant really see the need for more than one, plus I am the type that does not like lots of "things" on my person. Now, how many do you carry? I have seen some pics of your pockets and it looks like a small arsenal. What is your reasoning if you carry 2, 3, 4,10 or whatever.

Carry three, ka bar tdi knife right pocket, bk-11 left pocket, a clip folder in wallet.

I carry 3, but 2 have 2 blades each - total of 5 blades.

Do you only have a knife & no SAK or Multi-tool? If so then how do you get by day to day being so poorly equipped? Get a good SAK made by Victorinox with the useful tools (blade, file, saw, scissors, bottle opener, can opener) and start carrying it, you never know when you'll need one of those tools.

seems i carry 3-5 daily... nothing huge, an rc-3's usually the biggest knife i have in a pocket, though i carry my trailmaster scout style or on a mecharness from time to time.

Yup, at work it's my caly 3, vic classic, and my leatherman wave when not at work it's usually just the caly 3 and the vic classic. Someone once said "it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it" and I like getting my money's worth out of my tools.

I don't like to carry alot on me all the time.
But when I am out and about , always at least 2.
A folder and a small blue SAK on my keychain.
Sometimes a multitool.

Most of the time I carry 2 with me. A folder like my Sebenza or Emerson and a slipjoint. I rotate through a bunch of them.

I have two EDC's. I always carry a folder clipped in my right front pocket-- for the last six months it has been one of my Emerson's. In the left front, for the past 20 years, I have carried a Schrade 340 Old Timer.

I'm usually in the 10+ crowd - PE, CE, SE in various sizes. Some smaller models are more general public friendly while the larger sizes take on the larger cutting tasks. Some are just ones I'm testing to formulate an opinion on carry, function and ergonomics.

I usually have a couple of knives on me, a folder clipped to my pocket and a folder in the pocket. Always have a knife you are willing to loan to another.

Here's a story that doesn't really apply; but, you might find it interesting. Some years ago, I was kidded by a good friend about carrying at least two knives while working. I had a Benchmade AFCK clipped to my pocket and another Spyderco Native tucked into a pocket on the front of my vest. He said, one knife would do. I said, you never know when you may need a backup. He got a hot call one night and rushed into a room first, finding a fella still jerking on his noose. Buddy reached for his pocket knife only to find it had fallen out sometime during the shift. He had to hold the guy up to ease the tension until backup officers got there with a knife. He did a great job by-the-way and saved the fella's life. Now, we both carry an extra knife.

No. No offense to those that do, but IMHO carrying multiple knives - unless you have a job that specifically requires you to carry and use multiple blades - strikes me as crossing the line between being prepared and being ridiculous.

i carry a victorinox trekker in my pocket so only one for me. however, i also carry a 4" fixed blade (currently an esee-4) along with a small survival kit in my laptop bag. yeah, it's not a man purse if there's a laptop inside it, right? :D

the trekker will probably be replaced by a spyderco military soon.
