Do you carry more than 1 knife on you?

hmm, you carry 5 knives...given your handle on this forum, how many guns do you carry then? i think i know who i want to be next to me on the coming zombie invasion :D

interesting replies everyone. lots of varied responses. it'd be interesting to know what your occupation is alongside the # of knives you carry. it'll provide context as to whether how paranoid you are :p

i live in CA man, cant really carry a gun here unless you know the sheriff ;) or are in a more conservative county

i carry 5 but they are varied enough so any cutting task is covered
spyderco paramilitary
spyderco ladybug on keyes
CRK small sebenza
SAK camper
ESEE izula on belt.

No. No offense to those that do, but IMHO carrying multiple knives - unless you have a job that specifically requires you to carry and use multiple blades - strikes me as crossing the line between being prepared and being ridiculous.

Are you just talking about knife knives? Because I don't feel there is anything ridiculous about a Knife + Multitool + SAK, in fact they are darned useful.

The knife has a bigger blade made of better steel for harder cutting tasks, the multitool (LM Wave) is a full sized pair of pliers with tools like a saw & file that the SAK doesn't have and the SAK (Vic Cybertool) has an interchangeable bit screwdriver that is great for computer tech work (which I do every day). The SAK is also great for cutting tasks around non-knife people, I don't get out the one handed opening knife around people that may scare easily.

Of course to make sure they are all as useful as they can be the 2 SAK blades & the PE Wave blade are all 'shaving sharp' like the blade on the one handed opener.

I like plain edge for most things, but sometimes I want a serrated edge. BUT, I bought a few combo edges and decided that they are really the worst of both worlds. You only have an inch or two of serrations and i hate using the tip for all the plain edge duties. Now if I can, I carry a dedicated full serrated edge (Usually a Spyderco Endura ZDP) and a plain edge (Usually a Spyderco Military). If im at work I usually carry a CS voyager tanto for lending out and abuse i wouldnt put my good knives through.

So there you go, mostly 2 knives, sometimes 3, and a good reason for all of them.

I usually carry 3 or so knives. I have a Spyderco Ladybug on the keys for small jobs and for the "sheep", a main blade like a Delica or a Mini Griptilian, and a Multitool usually a Leatherman S2 Juice. :)

I keep a hacksaw blade knife in my wallet as an emergency backup to my main knife.

I work building maintenence. We have two men taking care of 133 apartments, 4 laundry facilities and 3 community centers, offices, grounds, etc., most of which are 30 years or more old. The day I mentioned was spent on a bathroom remodel where the underlayment had been installed with construction adhesive, screws and nails. Too bad it wasn't waterproof.

I never know for certain what I'm going to be facing on any given day, so I load up for everything. Some days, that's exactly what I get, too.

i hear yah. nj is only 2nd to ca when it comes to gun control. sometimes i feel like maybe i need to ask for a permit to even touch my guns outside of a range...never know what other silly law they managed to pass overnight

...end of thread hijack.

occupation - i'm a programmer, sitting in front of a computer every day.

1, no SAK. I hope to get an Alox SAK soon but right now I don't own a single SAK so I don't have one to carry. But once I get an Alox Soldier or Spartan I'm sure that'll change and I'll be EDCing it too.
More than one "carry" knife, not including MTs or SAKs, isn't practical for me. I did it for a few days and got tired of the clutter. I prefer to keep my pockets simple so the less I have to carry to get by the better.

i'm not sure what some of you mean by "clutter"... a 940 and my phone in LFP, an izula and a couple of keys(with a buck folder/bottle opener) in RFP, maybe a dollar in change. if that's clutter, your pants are too tight.:p

Well time for a girl to tell you want she carries. Today I have on me a Spyderco "S" Case orange g-10 toothpick, vic ralley, and leatherman micra. I like anywhere from 3 to 6 knives depending on what I'm doing for the day. I'm a security guard and knives are a no no but what my boss doesn't know won't hurt him. :D

I usually carry one knife but if I'm going somewhere in the city especially at night I take something big sharp and nasty also. I have a multitool but it stays in the glovebox or in my work bag. Small multi function devices don't float my boat, too clever, I like it primitive.

Anything more than 2 knife knives plus one multi is overkill, how can one possibly need more than that? Maybe I just don't get it??

I carry a main folder for its blade and than either a SAK or multitool, so that would put it at two, though I typically use the others for their other features more than the blade alone.

I carry one modern folder that is: Spyderco paramilitary sprint run d2, or BM 710 D2, or BM Griptilian in CPM154. Next, I will carry at least one slipjoint, too many to mention, lateley it has been the Blade Forum 09 Barlow, but today a pre 70's Case slimline trapper in red bone with stainless steel. It is one of my favorites. I also carry a Leatherman charge Ti.

..., plus I am the type that does not like lots of "things" on my person.
The knives are my least problem when it comes to carrying stuff around - if they're IWB or one clipped to my right pocket, they dont disturb me.

My wallet, credit-card-like-stuff (id, medical insurance, bank account, ...), keys, cell phone (although its quite small - iirc a thickness <10mm), are more annoying than knives to me.

I dont carry my knives to be prepared - at least this isnt the primary reason for me to do so.
I carry them because i like to - which is because i like using my knives ;)

What do i carry? BM707S30V + 710HS IWB/right pocket
Vic Camper, Mini-Ritter-Grip, ESEE-3 in my backpack

Well, I carry my fixed blade regardless of work. I get labeled as paranoid, which is funny because I actually have a Paranoid Personality Disorder...

I always carry more than 1. See video.

I always have a SAK on the keychain and one in the pocket. Often I also carry a folding knife like an Opinel.

Always 1 knife, I hate the weight of more stuff.
I EDC a Hinderer Flashpoint, doesn't really scare the people and cuts great.
Everybody knows I'm a knife addict.
