• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Do you edc a firesteel?

After posting on key chain ferro rods I got to wondering. Do you edc a firesteel? If so, what kind?
I am adding a Strike Master K1 to my key chain.
Ira

I have a Light My Fire -firesteel, and I think that's too big for my keychain. Also, in urban-suburban environment I don't really need one, since fire is not the 1st priority in said environment (and I have a lighter with me anyway). If I can find a really small, keychain size firesteel, I might start carrying one.

In the woods, even for a short few-hour hike, I always have it with me though.

i have a BSA hotspark on my key chain... and i also have strike master K-1... both are great for EDC...

Well.. I use to, but honestly I am a smoker, so I always have two lighters on me. But I do have a ferrorod in my Get home bag in my car.

I edc two. One in my wallet, and one on my key ring. The wallet is just a bare rod that fell off of something that looks a lot like a Strike Master K1. The key ring rod is an LMF scout.

I carry a PSK in my pocket. It contains a light my fire ferro rod, some dental floss, bit of tinder, and a Mini lighter. It is basically a change purse. Or I carry a leatherman ST with a ferro rod attached to the sheath.

Never leave home w/o fire!!!!!

There are several good ones out there. I carry two; a military one in the side pouch of my Leatherman:

I also keep a key chain version on my main key chain:

The BSA is also a simple and inexpensvie one works quite well.

I carry a LMF Army model and some fatwood in my Maxpedition Fatboy Jumbo, along with a Coghlan's mag block, a couple of mini-bics, a few firestraws, and a small altoids tin full of birch bark.

You know, when I write it all out like that, I think that just maybe what my wife says about me is true.

Yep. I edc a handleless rod.

I EDC a small Ferro rod I picked up when Kiahs was selling them, its also on my key ring.

Doan mag block on a small piece of 550 with spare van and apt. key and a Fox 40 on my belt, EDC!

i don't carry one for EDC, i carry a lighter or a matchsafe instead. better for what i use them for.

i do keep one in my woods gear thoug, for when the matches run out or the lighter gets wet, basically as a backup...

BSA hot spark on my key chain and a mini model LMF in my wallet. Plus a Army model in my truck BOB. Very handy to have!

I'm edc'ing a bare rod, without handle. Just drilled a hole in it, so I can attach it to the keyring. Also a scraper is attached, and a small pillholder with PJB...
