Do you EDC a Mega Folder?

I've been EDC'ing an Endura 4 Wave for a while now. It does
everything I need but I want to try something new and BIGGER.

Looking around I see the CS Rajah as cheap a intro into the world of MEGA FOLDERS.

How many of you actually EDC a big folder (5"+)?

Did you have to mod the clip for secure/comfortable carry?

Do you use it daily?

Any and all Mega Folder carry anecdotes welcomed!

It's not at my disposal at the moment but I normally carry a Cold Steel X2 (6" clippoint Voyager). It's light and fairly thin, no problems carrying. I also carry an XL Tanto Voyager (5"). Makes the Rukus, the Black Rhino, the Police 3 G-10 look tiny. :D

I have been carrying a Titanium Military which I believe is right at 4" and isn't too bad to carry but IMO it's huge. I bought a Benchmade Rukus once and I immediately sold it because of its ridiculous size. I also sold a Zero Tolerance 0302 because it was too big and heavy for me. Have fun lugging one of those massive CS folders around.

I EDC a spyderco CF military, thats about as large as i would like to go for an EDC blade:D

The Military is a perfect EDC for me although I am liking the Umnumzaan more and more. :D

Neither are huge like some of the CS folders but they are big enough when you compare them to a Delica or similar.

Why yes, yes I do.:) It is an Ontari Hossom Retribution 1 that I modified for pocket carry and added a deep-carry foldover clip to it. Now it rides in my right front unseen and unknown!

I don't recommend you jump right from the Endura to the Rajah. Get a Cold Steel Spartan. I carry that one and like it. I tried the Rajah and thought it was way too big to carry around.

I EDC'd a Rekat Sifu for a long time. I loved the knife but it was just a bit too big and not so sheeple friendly. That really is the problem with large knives other than weight and space is how people react when you utilize them. I love my 6' Ti-Lite and Vaquero but sometimes they are a bit too big. I find that my G-10 Military is the perfect compromise in having a moderatly large knife as well as being light and not too intimidating.

Im considering getting a Pentagon II (deal through work at 50% off MSRP). Its blade is 5" athough local knife rules say 3.5" and up is a no-no, but I usually violate that daily.

I have been edcing a black rhino of late and am really liking it. All I have done to it is to sand down the g10 and go over the bolsters with scotch brite. Makes it a bit easier to grip for me this way, at least the g10 does. I have the Rajah 1 and am torn between using it and trading it away. It is huge but very ergonomically correct for me. Opens easily too. Build quality on my new Recon1 yep have one of those too, the BR and the Rajah 1 is excellent. I also have a Duncan folder a newer one that is pretty big and of course the ego's are superb as is the build quality. It is a big folder in its own right also. But have been sticking with the BR, it's old school in the fact that it is a lock back folder but using the triad lock which imho is the BEST lock design going. Anyways it is big enough at 4.25" of clip point goodness in a nice hollow grind. Just looks right to me. So there ya go. keepem sharp

Heck, no! I HATE carrying anything bulky or bulging, which is why I don't even have a wallet, and don't carry change. I'll leave purses to the ladies!

The only knives I will carry with regularity must be slim, light, unobtrusive. I like knives that I forget I am even carrying, until I need them.

I do regularly.

It sort of depends on the pants I'm wearing that day but I frequently carry a Spyderco Military. Since I carry on/in my front pocket, I don't think I'd ever carry anything bigger than that.

Because of its clip placement and scale design, the Rajah II is pretty comfortable to carry for its size.

I should be getting a custom Demko version of the Espada in about 4 months. The blade will be between 4.5" - 5" and I consider that the perfect size for a right pocket primary.

And again an amazing number of people gushing over their 'millies' (puny 4" folders) when the OP specifically asked who carried folders of 5" and more. That Pet Peeves thread shows that reality is stranger than any fiction.

As is taking offense to people simply offering their opinion about why they don't carry a "mega" folder. :)
