Do you EDC a Mega Folder?

Sometimes, most days really

I've grown out of megafolders.

Spyderco Manix 2 XL is as "mega" as I get, but I want something bigger just for grins. I would not EDC a bigger knife but I would carry it for some occasions. I got interested in something bigger because the blade length limit here is 5.5". I found two of interest, the Spyderco Tatanka and the Cold Steel Recon 1 XL.

Why yes, yes I do.:) It is an Ontari Hossom Retribution 1 that I modified for pocket carry and added a deep-carry foldover clip to it. Now it rides in my right front unseen and unknown!

Nice. I wish I had bought one of those. Sounds great with a pocket clip!

Anyway, I can't say that I edc this, but, it is pretty easy to carry since it is so thin and light.
HTM MADD Max, 7". It carries much better than say, a Rukus.

I have some much shorter pocket bricks that can really start to annoy me as I carry them but strangely the HTM doesn't.

However, This folder has taught me that there is such a thing as too big to be practical/useful. The folded size isn't the issue. The blade size is.

I wish there were more 3" folders.:)

I have a pile of megas. EDC is usually four inch though for practicality. I usually pack a big one for a casual outdoor romp. Get circled by 3-4 dogs barking/snapping, moving in and out on you and the SAK your carrying just doesn't seem like a good choice that day. I have had more than one dog experience, usually just on the edge of town. I thought that I would have to part the hair of a Doberman once with a shovel, then the owner showed up.
