do you edc your best knives?

I carry my Mnandi everyday. It isn't mint n'more, but I appreciate it much more than if it had sat in it's box everyday...

:D I do use my best EDC's. Thats what I got them for, to use. They all have their special purposes. As most of us do, we research before we buy. Based on the research we do, most knives we get are very durable and hold up to what there intended for. I'm not against just sitting in front of the tv flipping my favorite knife opened and closed, and just admiring it. My thought... to each his own. Do what you will with your knives expensive or not so expensive. We all "work hard" to purchase them and most of all, deserve having them to do what we will with them.;)

Yeah, I EDC all my knives. I may not abuse all of them but I definately use all of them. I would still be upset if one of my knives got real messed up but I just love and cant help using them.

I dont have any knife I would be afraid to use. Life is far too short to put tools on a pedistal, IMO. When you die, what are you going to do with an expensive knife, other than regret not using it?

I always felt wierd about using my 400 dollar knives - so now I just buy benchmades and use em without concern.

Like many, if I won't use it, I won't own it.
My EDCs are a small Sebenza or a Victorinox
Tinker with wood handles.

I'm of the opinion that objects just gain character with usage.
I know that certain "tools" like my duck gun, certain knives, etc.
mean more to me today than they did when new.

As an example, I have two Randalls; a model 5 and a model 8.
I've owned them since the late seventies/early eighties.

One or the other is with me whenever I am hiking, camping, hunting,
fishing, or just woods walking. That's a lot of usage for each.
I can guarantee that each knife is worth triple today what I paid for it.
The value to me though, isn't dollars. It's memories. Each knife in
imbued with plenty. They will be handed on to my sons.
You know what? I think my sons would rather each have a knive that Dad
used than a knife that Dad just owned.

I don't EDC my balis, but I do EDC my most expensive regular folder, my paramilitary...in fact, it's not even being rotated out anymore....it stays there 90% of the time (except for when attire or occasion won't allow).

I EDC a 500.00 dollar knife but my more expensive blades are not used, because of the investment potential they have.

I don't use many of my knives, but the knives I use are good ones. I don't believe in holding back just because a knife is made out of new and good steel. I don't buy really expensive fancy knives, though.

yea if i had a sebenza id probably carry it every day

I carry my Sebbie every day. It's the only folder I own. I carry a small Busse FB on the other side.

I plan on selling the Sebbie and upgrading to a Hinderer, but still sticking to just 1 folder for the sheeple.

I just don't care for knives that break in the middle on purpose, but that doesn't mean it can't be a high quality broken knife. LOL

I have edc'ed all of my knives at least once, but I wouldnt abuse my more expensive ones as much as my cheapies.

I don't carry what I consider my "nice " knives.There are a few EDC's (most under $50.00 price tag)but that's it.YMMV.tom.

Yup, My SnG is in my EDC rotation. I carry another knives like the Para Military and Bucks (Strider) excellent IMHO 881. Ernie Emerson CQC7 went every where I did in the not too distant past in a hot sandy environment for 6+ mos. I tried the ER MPC but it's to big for me in civvie guise, In truth I wouldnt take it to the desert either (I think the lock would be compromized by the sand and I hate that F#@King cross bolt thingy) And besides, I'd carry a fixed blade rig with that size blade. I go for something I think I can use all the time, utility like knife. If you got to use a folder for defence, your having a pretty rotten day :)

My way of thinking is don't buy it if your not going to use it.Once my F1 gets here I'll EDC it too.

other than my spyderco Ti ATR i most always carry a custom folder (ie emerson CQC8, or crawford perfigo).

why not if ya scuff them up most smiths will redo them for a small fee.

I use all my knives with a few exceptions. Those that don't get any pocket/belt time are not the most expensive but those that have a very special sentimental value, like my great-grandfather's knives (although I do use some of them ocassionally).

All my customs have scratches from working hard in the woods!

Gotta carry, what's the point of buyin' if ya ain't gonna carry?

Even the customs get carried regularly, no matter how much I paid.

Two of my favorite EDCs are customs by Pat Crawford and Bud Nealy.

Knives were meant to be used as tools, EDC that knife dude, it deserves it.

I don't really have a choice, I usually only have three or four knives at any one point, so I end up using them all, no matter how expensive they were.
