Do you ever feel "over equipped"?

I love my knives and multitools, and I switch up my carry from day to day depending on what I am doing and what kind of mood I am in.
I usually keep a Victorinox Classic SD or a Rambler on me at all times, for the toothpick, tweezers, and scissors more than anything. Sometimes I carry a pliers based multitool as well, either a Gerber or Leatherman of some sorts.
So the other day, I had my Leatherman Sidekick, which has a normal knife blade and a shorter serrated blade, in my front pocket I had a Case Stockman, and in my watch pockets I have my little SD.
Then it occurred to me, I was at that moment carrying 6 knife blades on my person . Not to mention I have them sitting all over my desk at home, I have a fixed blade in each vehicle, I have a fixed blade in my desk drawer at work, and another SD in my backpack I take to work, etc. etc.
I also have a full set of tools at home, a tool set in my vehicle, another multitool in my truck, Utility knives everywhere, tools at work, a multitool in my tackle box I take when I am on the boat, etc. etc.
As I thought about it I came to the realization that I just have too much junk, and I really don't need to be carrying all this stuff everywhere because I have access to knives and tools all day everywhere I go.
I thought of a simple single bladed knife on my person and leaving everything else at home, but the thought of leaving it all at home makes me sad... 🤣

So does anyone else feel "over equipped" or are you thinking that you can never have enough?

I haven't carried multiple knives on me at any given time for a long while. There was a time when it made sense for me to do so. Now, not so much.

I don't miss carrying multiples...but I do like to switch around what I carry from one day to the next.

Most of the time, I feel like carrying one knife makes me over equipped. I probably only use it a couple of times per week. But it's handy to have for when I do need it.

I do have way too much crap laying around the house, though. 🤣

One, single bladed folder in the pocket, has always been enough for my everyday tasks, including work.
If I need more, my truck or garage has multiple cutting tools. Machete, etc.

Don't be sad. Carry as many as you want, need, love to carry.

Who cares what others think...... If it makes you happy and it's not a problem just keep doing it. ;)

My travelling Blade load out.............

Are you me?

😁

I don't keep anything of value stored in my vehicles, so if it's not on my person, I don't have access to it. That being said, I only ever carried one knife (at a time) from around 1984 to 2005. These were, in chronological order, a Buck 110, a Buck 501, a Gerber Sportsman, a cheap Valor bullet-shaped knife, a Spyderco Police, a Benchmade AFO, and finally, a Spyderco Military, which has been my EDC since 2010. In 2005, I added a Buck 309 to my daily carry, then in 2015, I added a VIctorinox Alox Farmer. These three knives are what I still carry daily, though I mostly use the Syderco. The Buck 309 sees use in polite company, and for tasks that might cause damage to my Spyderco. Though carrying a SAK seemed like a good idea, I almost never use it for anything. I have lots (and I mean LOTS!) of other knives, but I am consistent with what I carry.

So yes, I do feel over equiped with what I carry, but it's manageable and hasn't gotten ridiculous (yet)! My overall collection of knives is another story though. That is both unmanageable and ridiculous!

What I did for fun is for one week I cut down what I carried. It helped me see what was useful and what wasn't. What I learned is that trying to make due with less can be a fun challenge.

I always carry lots of knives when I’m cleaning the house or garage.

Mostly because I’m finding knives all over the place🤣

A knife and a leatherman feels about right for me.

That last line, right there.

I’ve recently had an epiphany that all of my “safe queens” (and knives in general) are beautiful, usable tools that I purchased with the intent of using. That said, I’ve made it a point (HA) to have 1 “small” (2 inish), 1 “medium” (3inish) and 1 “large” (pretty much exactly 4 inches or whatever is sleek and large enough to be a back pocket carry) on my person, each day of the week. Some days when I do little to no cutting, I feel over equipped. But other days when I’m making precision cuts with the small, EDC cuts with the medium, and getting down and dirty with the large, I feel entitled to tell the nonknifers that I am a logical person who makes logical decisions

A little bit but not really. Carrying these types of items is not so much about always needing them, but having them when you need them, and I tend to need them frequently enough to justify carrying them

I work as a security guard.....
I carry 2 knives and 2 flashlights....
On my keychain a small knife for little jobs.....less intimidating to pull out and small flashlight to look for things.
My larger 3,5" knife I only use when needed and a 500 lum. pocket flashlight for power loss.
I really don't need a multi tool.
