Do You Have a Good Knife Store in Town?

The closest one to me that I know of is Country Knives at about an hour drive, which boasts 8000 knives from >300 manufacturers based in >20 countries. I haven't made the trip yet.

My local store here in Las Vegas has an incredible selection but charges MSRP plus. I go in to look but end up buying online.

There's one knife store in my town, but it's pretty far from decent. Crazy high prices and staff that don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground :barf:

There are some pretty decent ones just outside the city, though, but they're pretty far to drive...

My local Sebenza dealer took a long time before he got CRK product in. Stuff with CRK was on backorder. Now, he definitely knew his product, which seems to be a big difference between him and kuso's dealer.

I believe I left out the word knowledge in my post. His dealer didn't have any product knowledge :o

I forgot to mention there's a Cabela's about 4 hours north of me near Austin, TX (actually in Budah, TX just south of Austin).

We have two near us, but both are way pricey. Between the two of them, they carry most major production stuff though, which is nice.

i can drive to bladehq in 45 minutes. I always spend 2-3 times more money than I intend to whenever I go there.

I have a mens work clothing store in town that sells a vast array of Victorinox SAKs.I keep them in business methinks:D.Other than that, not much.

It's a little sad none are around really.

I live in a decent sized city we have nothing. I'm about 2hrs from Toronto, they likely have some, but thats still a bit of a hike.

Thanks for everyones reply. I live in Indianapolis, a city of over 800,000 people here in the midwest. Lots of down to earth, midwest, knife carrying type people and not one knife store.

O.K. Anyone out there an entreprenuer? I know the economy isn't great right now but maybe there is an opportunity here for someone.

How about setting up an online knife store and then selling knives at scheduled events around your state? Get with outfitters, camping and gun stores to set up a weekend knife tent sale. Get some good knives in some peoples hands and watch them realize what they have been missing! Good knives sell themselves, a lot of us know that!

Online stores get business from people who allready know what they want. Why not be the person who shows them what they want and have the best price?

Can you tell I am advocating for some good local knife retailers? Hey why not start here in Indy? I will be your first customer!!

Weekends I am near Advanced Cutlery in Arcadia, Los Angeles County. Can't say service is too good there. Tends to be a surly and somewhat rude guy there on weekend nights when I visit. Seems to know his stuff though. Selection isn't the best.

Weekdays I am within Plaza Cutlery in Costa Mesa, Orange County, California. They boast to be the 1st knife store if their kind. Indeed the selection is huge and the staff knowledgeable but not too busy to be friendly.

Otto, drive to Newport (10 mins from Cincinnati) and go to Cecil Clark...there isnt much you wont find there. Give yourself 3-4 hrs.

St. Nick's knife factory in Foley, AL. It's about 30 minutes from where I live. They have about every production brand of good knives you find on online stores except Strider knives. Everyone there is nice to chat with and they've always given me good deals when I buy more than one knife.

I'm in SE Michigan. Years ago, there used to me a "Cutlery Shoppe" in the local Mall, but they closed down. Now I have to drive an hour to mid-Michigan to the "Knife Trader" - better than nothing, but far enough away that I don't go as much as I would like.

The best knife store around these parts closed over 20 yrs. ago. Owner developed a recreational drug problem.

There is a surplus place that has started carrying some Benchmades, but that is about it.

No knife store in my town, but I usually just go into NYC and visit Mastersmith's, Paragon Sports or a few others. I also like Bond's House of Cutlery!

From all the posts so far it sounds like I'm lucky. Got a great hunting, fishing, shooting, and knife store not too far away, WildSports. They sell below MSRP and carry a respectable variety of knives from Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw, Buck, etc. They even have a very good selection of Surefire flashlights. :D
