Do you like em thick or thin?

As thin as the job requires. Robust enough for the job and intended use. There is definitely too thick and too thin too. For leaving the beaten track I'll go a little thicker but not much.
Thick knives fail just as often as thin knives because expectations go up to what they can tackle. A better made knife has more luck built in so should last/survive that bit longer and be less likely to let you down.

If I want to cut an apple then best done with something thin. Batton some kindling then something that has enough metal to get that done. I'm not a fan of overbuilt knives as they are just not generally good to work with.

Well my friends , knives a like french wrench .You can unscrew many bolts with , but for 3/4 bolt is best to have 3/4 wrench :)
