Do you (mostly) carry the same traditional knife daily?

I did for many years, for over 30 years I split pocket time between this Small Tinker and a 34OT. Lost my first 34OT and it was replaced with this one 20 some years ago by my Grandad.2B9740CE-6A11-4BA1-8A39-F9FEF33F1733.jpeg

It‘s a different story now, having so many knives I do rotate around. But during the work week more often than not this Case will go to work with me, then I’ll grab something else when I get home

Thanks for sharing. The 34OT is a favorite of mine too. I carried mine for like 10 years until I started carrying the 75 pattern case. I still occasionally go back to it for a few days too.

That a deer hide? I got the hide from a buck a few years ago that my youngin likes to play on. We set on it and look at knives or guns sometimes.

Not a deer, one of the Impala hides from my hunting trip 10 years ago. It adorns my coffee table.

I go through phases. I’ll carry the same blade for 2-3 weeks and then swap it out. Lately I’ve been on a stag 33 kick, last month a bone 14, month before white owl stag, before that 49 smooth bone. I don’t carry a knife longer than a month straight

They wouldn't let me have an EDC until I was five or thereabouts, so I have only been packing 70 years. Many many over time but these two have been regulars for about a year. Everyone knows a Buck 110. The other one is a 1904-1917 little jack I just love. I fantasize that it was born the same day my Dad was born, in 1914.

That engraving and checkering on the 110 is beautiful my friend!

I do carry this one daily, but it's not my primary EDC and is just in case I need one of the tools, (or want to protect a prettier knife). It's very versatile, and a beater, but not as fast to dig out of my pocket or deploy like most of my single blade folders that I carry with it.

Too many knives to carry one all the time 😂 I do really love the concept of a true edc, but I just can’t make myself do it. Probably the closest I come to it is along with my main blade of the day whatever it may be, I carry a small multi tool in my watch pocket. I have been alternating between a Victorinox classic SD, a Leatherman squirt, or a Gerber dime, so those three probably get more pocket time than all the others.
I went through a sickness... er, I mean, phase, where I started buying so many knives I didn’t hardly get to use one for a day before I got something else, or after a trip to the big store in Tennessee I would end up walking out with between 5 and 10 new ones at once, so some didn’t hardly get hardly any pocket time. I have TRIED to quit buying new stuff so I can go back and actually use some of the other ones I already bought, but my knife hoarder instincts keep kicking in when I let my guard down 😂

I carry all kinds of different knives daily. I may go a month or two carrying the same one but eventually I switch it.

I want to try different stuff, but I can’t break out of my 75 stockman holding pattern. So the others see very limited pocket exposure currently.

For the last few years, I have carried an Alox Electrician and an Opi No.6. For a long while, I also carried an Okapi Biltong, which I switched out for a Wright’s Lambsfoot, a gift from Jack Black. More recently, fot maybe the last year, it has been the Queen Hawbaker, a gift from another porch member. With warmer weather, I have reverted to two knives.

That's somewhat how it works for me - but I always have the SAK BSA knife, and also rotate between different folders or OTF knives as my primary user. It might be a Benchmade mini-griptilian for 1-2 weeks, and then a Guardian Tactical Recon-035 for another 1-2 weeks, or a Benchmade mini-barrage, a Kershaw, or most recently last week a Spyderco and my Benchmade Shootout OTF this week, and so on and so forth. I like to carry them all, knowing that my most carried valuable knives often have backups in mint condition.

Left front jeans pocket has a modern clipped to it, but watch pocket almost always has this Wenger Pocket Tool Chest with Photon Freedom LED light in it. Recently added the CountyComm Pico Widgy pry bar. Three handy little tools. I've tried other small SAKs and small stockman, but keep coming back to this Wenger, or the simpler Wenger Esquire. Carried it enough to wear the Wenger logo off. And yeah, the key ring boss is on the correct end. 😁

Got tired of figuring out how to carry a knife with pants other than jeans (and even with jeans) so I ended up with the classic or minichamp in my keychain. It felt weird at first but I just could not figure why I would need anything bigger. I’m a knife hater now I guess. 😄

I think that is a great way to always have a knife on you. I am kind of partial to the SAK that has the built-in flashlight and goes on our keychain. I just cracked one of the scales on mine last month, and really need to get around to gluing it down or buying a new one. If I glue it then that will be the last battery I can install...

I have one of the classics with light. It’s a handy item. I used the original for 4 years probably regularly before I needed to change batteries. It’s a handy item for navigation when your primary light goes down.

Yes, a Case medium stockman in CV. It is less than a year old but serves me daily. Try one!

I have one myself, actually two. They are both going back to case I think. Or maybe just one. We’ll see.
