Do you (mostly) carry the same traditional knife daily?

Sticking with the trend, I’m still carrying the 75 stockman but I’ve been carrying a 33OT in my watch pocket lately. It’s been growing on me immensely over the last couple months. I’ve had it a year or two but ignored it mostly.

I have a rotation, but now that my knives have moved into the safe, each knife now gets a week or two of pocket time before I move to the next. As opposed to 2-3 days before switching in the past.
My primary form of picking a carry knife is which one needs more patina on carbon blades. Newer knives get carried until a stable patina forms, then I pick one of the knives without pocket time for a while to ensure they stay in working order and the patina is still protecting the blades.

Case CV and some Boker carbon seem to need more maintenance than GEC 1095 and older Schrade carbon steel. I have noticed that extended period without oil and some pepper spots arise on Case CV first, then one of my Boker stockmen has had trouble as well.

I initially liked stockmen knives a lot, but my lack of persistence oiling the blades makes it hard to keep rust of all 3 blades of each knife. Single and double blade knives have less steel to maintain. More lazyness I guess, but I have not created a habit or system for oiling all the blades yet.

Yes.... that's called "character"..... that's one of the big reasons I prefer carbon steel over stainless. Stainless knives don't seem to develop a personality like carbon knives do...

Of course, it's possible that I just over-think it.... 🤪

I generally have the same 58mm Victorinox on my keychain

I prefer carbon myself, but I do use stainless because it’s often what I happen upon when a knife suits my fancy. A few rust spots just add to the character along with a good dark patina. I like the dark patina from sweat and use better than what you get from cutting food.

Can’t seem to get this little chestnut swayback out of my pocket. These two together handle just about any everyday knife chore that comes along so I have to make a conscientious effort to switch out and carry something else from time to time.
