As I look at my 11 I know she was my first. Had her for only a couple months. I have to wonder about you life long Beckerheads. Do you remember your first Becker? Do you still have them? Is there maybe a tragic story behind their loss? I have read that these little beauties take a licking and keep on ticking. Just wondering what ever happened to your first?

It's the 7 seen here with the inner-tube wrap. Still have it.

My first was a BK-11 also.
And while I may not be a "lifelong Beckerhead", I loved the knife from the moment I held it.
I started off with the general paracord handle wrap.
Then I stripped it, jimped it, and threw down a polish on the blade.
Fixed it up with some micarta(which made a big difference on the overall feel of the knife).
Thrillbilly sent me a Kydex sheath along with the Maxpedition Versipak from one of his giveaways.
Just recently i put a Tabasco patina on it. Looks cool, but I may still bring back the mirror finnish...who knows.
It's not the most expensive Becker by far. But this little knife holds a special place in my heart.
I wouldn't sell it for $100, or even $200 for that matter.
I plan on keeping it for a lifetime.

(At work right now...I'll post pics this evening.)

Some say the BK-2 is the Becker "gateway drug". For me it was the mighty 11. Cause now I own the 11,2,4,7,& 9 and have no plans of stopping there.
Just make sure you know what you're getting into around here MNI!! lol

Guyon....I look at your picture and I kinda want to start skipping like a kid in a candy store and say, "I'll take this one and that one and that one and this one."

Jonny1280...Hurry home. :) I can wait to see a picture.

CCMI....How long have you had her?

Wow Guyon! You must really like that handle style? They look great!

I've still got my first Becker knife, an 11. But it's only a couple of months old, so that's not unusual. Now my first knife, some little stainless steel nail-clipper thing my grandpa gave me 35 some-odd years ago? That's in my knife drawer in my tool chest locked away for safekeeping, along with about 20 other sharp tiny things saved throughout my life.

That first pic was from Sept 2010.

Once the coating got a bit beat up I stripped it and did an apple cider vinegar patina. That second pic is after semi-polishing the blade, but I'd like to try a really dark patina (tried a yellow mustard one that I don't really like).

That's a Spec Ops sheath in the picture, fyi.

Mistwalker...Wow. You just went for the big one huh? Have to admit the size was a big deal in chosing my first. I wanted something that I could keep in the car or where ever. I think if I had the 7 in the car next to me I might just have an accident cause I would keep staring at her. LOL.

The Warrior...OH MY!!! You did that all yourself? I can't even imagine the feeling you got when it was finished. Almost to pretty to use.

Jes600...I love looking at my dad's old collection. He has a life long love affair with Old Timer knives. The thing that makes me smile when I see them is I always remember in his jean pocket he had a print of where he always kept the Old Timers. Was the jeans a million times...it's still there.

ThrillBilly...That knife always looks HUGE to me. I have sucha bad time judging the scale of knives.

I'm not a long-time Becker owner. I've appreciated them for years and finally got some in my collection starting last summer.

The first one was this 14, then and now:

Shadow...Okay that first picture should be a freaking postcard. My goodness. Is it a postcard? I mean perfect!!!!!!!!

CCMI....Must research now. All I really know about finishing is I like shiny. LOL. WOW....I SOUND HORRIBLE!

Eh, the big one just gave me more steel to abuse while testing it out in the woods :) . The 7 only goes to the deep woods with me, a BK-11 spends more time around my neck and in my pocket in urban areas.

Well, I kinda have a complicated story. My dad is the one who really got me into Beckers when he bought his 2 for backpacking (still unused, it's a shame.) so I guess you could call dad's 2 my first Becker, even though it wasn't mine. The first one I bought was the bk11 in about September 2011. I chose the mighty 11 because I didn't want to spend too much if I decided I hated the knives (silly me) but I still wanted something substantial. I don't think the 14 was out yet, and the 13 was too small, so 11 it was. I still have her, as well as 14 and 7 sisters.

My first was my BK2 back in February (birthday present for myself, probably shoulda gone with the 11, but Helga makes me happy), so I'm not life long, yet, and the first time I got to use it also happened to be the first time I got to see the bone of my left thumb.. :D Since then I've hand stripped her, gonna get more sandpaper to polish her up all purty like, and cracked a scale....

First pic of her outside her sheath:

More recent pic of her with her shirt on (she's a dirty dirty little girl):

Most alluring pic I have of her:
