I've never tried the baldric but I do like a mercharness in the winter under a vest or jacket.
I think I might just have to try one out.

Here is a link to a tutorial I did a few years ago on how to tie your own paracord Baldric....QUOTE]
I think Kevin was the one I got the idea from originally. He gave me one with I knife I got from him along with some other "doo-dads." Great guy and his tutorial will get you on your way. Mine cotains 45' of paracord - all one, long continuous piece.
Agreed 100%. Lawn chairs, tractor seats, stumps, even "squating" leaves it in an awkward spot for me. Best yet, if you have to undo your belt for the "call of nature," you hang your knife on a branch and it doesn't create "logistical problems" with your belt.
....a belt knife is a PITA.......Doc
Use Kev's tutorial but just start knotting about three inches from the start of the loop and stop about three inches before the end. You'll need a good 50', depending on how big you are. I am 5'6" and 150# and used 45' so, extrapolate to get your dimensions. There's some trial and error but Kev's ratio is good.
....Jeff H, the middle picture of yours is exactly what I was planning to do,......
A man after my own heart.... Hence my preoccupation with sub-seven-inch knives. I have the same concerns and the lighter rig goes unnoticed under the "outer layer" or rolled up and stuffed into a pocket. The one that looks like Jute is "suede lace" sold by Tandy and that big, chain store that starts with a "W". Agreed about "staying away from civilization" all the same.
Jeff H., I like the paracord and Jute (?) rigs, they look great. I agree that having to wear the rig on the outside of the clothing is both a plus and a minus, its great to be able to just sling it over your shoulder or lay it down, but it also makes the rig pretty visible, which can be an issue if you are somewhere civilized. Guess it's a good reason to stay away from civilization....
Not a bad way to get a feel for the way you want it before commissioning such an expert to make you the "real thing."
Jeff H.,
Have to add my vote. If I couldn't get a full-on leather baldric like mneedham's got, I'd be really really fine with the paracord model you show in the middle photo.
Hmmm,.... I think I just might have enough left to make one for a certain, upstanding forum-member who recently did me a good turn. How long should it be?
Jeff H- I am likin the one in your first pic, Is that leather cord? Any chance you could pm me a little tutorial, or some pics on how you braded it? Thats exactly what im wantin.
Oh, and I got your patches out in the mail!!
Good, ol' fashioned square knots. Ever see a macrame pot hanger? There is a tutorial for a wider one yet on OMF but I haven't had time to study it and figure it out. Kev's link and the others will have you on your way. "Quick and easy to untie" it is not.
Ditto on the paracord baldric. What are the best knots for it? I'd like one that widens out the paracord, uses a lot of paracord, but that is really quick and easy to untie....L!
I have tried to get my wife to make the paracord ones and sell them for $20. She is very handy but has to be "into it," like a pretty scarf or sweater so, no luck.
Does anybody sell a paracord, or better yet a leather, baldric like the ones pictured? I'd be interested in buying, if so.

I finally gave up my futile attempts to resist your "wild" influence over the weekend.
...and ordered a nice leather baldric. I'm going to put my beat-up BRKT Golok in that puppy and sally forth.
And no, my name is not Sally.
Lacking the wilderness of Indonesia or Malaya, I'll see what I can do in the backwoods Virginny.
Woops! Almost forgot. It's costing me $75 ... getting it from knivesshipfree.com (I think one of us BF knife knuts runs that store). I know ... I know ... I probably should've found a way to make my own. In my defense, they don't give me a lot of free time (which is really better for everybody).
J - Got pics of that 10/22 sling?
