Doctor Walter Welch - We're going to miss you

This is an awful shock.I'm extremely saddened by this news.My condolances to Walt's family. To Walt,Thank you Sir for all your contributions,You will be missed my friend.Ralph

...the grave of my good 'bestest' buddy Keith Brown today, the fellow that got me and Edna hooked on knives 2 years ago when he passed away...

I asked if we were doing ok, were we finishing his collections the way he would have...and it all came back in a flood, all the good times we'd had over those 10 years...

...and all that we shared. The shooting, the hunting, the books, the wine, those great 'seegar's, being best man at my wedding, and teaching us about fine knives...

And then I came home to this...

Dr. Walt, tell Keith I said hi when you see him, you'll be in good company up there.

*Ah sh*t*, I can't see the monitor anymore...I hate when this happens

This is terrible news. :( I really enjoyed reading a lot of his posts and talked to him on chat once or twice too I think. I remember him to be a great guy. Rest in peace Walt. He was one of the regulars here from around the beginning and will be missed.

It is a sad day indeed. When MDK was at knifeforums I allways enjoyed reading what Walt had to say on their forum. His brand of devilish humor allways made for a fine read and good chuckle. Alas it will happen no more. My condolances to his family and also those of you who knew and met him beyond the key board.
God bless you Walt. May your journey through the afterlife be filled with all things tactical.

Seems like I was just reading one of Walt's posts???. I am very sorry to hear this....

God's speed, Walt

Walt, You sure did bring something special to the table. And we are impoverished, now that you are gone. Luckily, guys like you have a way of sticking in our memories, lucky for us.

Save a place for us at the table. We'll be looking forward to the meal, and the fine conversation.

My fellow forumites said it all,and said it well.

I will always remember his post when James passed away,(thanks
for the reprint Gus); his pictures & posts of his Sebbies,Mad Dogs,
flashlights and even his cat.His Carley bulbs still remain in my
duty Maglites; his wisdom, humor and wit will always remain in my memory.

Rest in Peace, my friend.

but a few exceptional people have personalities which shine through the electronic filter like a rainbow. James Mattis was one; Doc Welch was another. I cannot help but believe that they are now regaling each other with stories, and only hope that someday I may be found worthy to have the joy of listening to both of them again.

Damn...:(. The GOOD people here seem to leave us too quickly! Walt and I never had a chance to meet, but maybe we will someday "on the other side".

I never knew Doc, I've always read his posts and learned so much from him. He was one person that always seemed to elevate a post and I admired him for that. I am saddened by his passing as I sit here and read all the wonderful things that he as done with his life and for so many people.

His life is an inspiration and he will be sorely missed. I feel so fortunate to be a part of this global knife community to experience people like Dr. Welch. I only hope he knew how much he was loved.

We all go on that final journey. I am proud in the way that we as forumites pay tribute to men so deserving...

Fairwell Doc, you have touched my life for the better, you will always be remembered.

S.

I just cleaned out some years old emails last month. His included. I should have read his before deleting them.

I enjoyed the humor and information that he brought. I will miss him. A strange feeling since I never met him in person.

I will always remember Walt for providing many flashlight lovers with Carley lamps and for his great posts both here and on Candlepowerforums. His posts remain among the most well written and informative of any I've read.

We'll miss you Walt,

Bucky

Walt:
Thought I never got to know you, your loss is a blow to this community. I always enjoyed the pictures he posted of his collection. He will be sorely missed.:(

As I sit here in front of this cold machine I will miss the warm wit and humor of the good Doctor. :(

I think he helped me rediscover flashlights, he even emailed me, out of kindness, what a wonderful person, Doc Welch, thanks..
