Does anyone carry a knife around the house

Dam studlysmurf, I guess that is true. A man cant get any closer to a knife than a Scalpel during surgury. I guess I would have one on me or in me then.

I'm right handed... When I went in for an appendectomy I just moved the Glock to a weak side holster and told them to leave it be. (I told them it was a scary "fully loaded, high-powered weapon" to dissuade them from even thinking about touching it.);)

How did you manage that? I was nekkid for my foot surgery.
It was kinda cool. There I was in a room full of decent or better looking women and get told to take off all my clothes. I was thinking "Man, this surgery stuff isn't all that bad, I'll have to do this more often." Next thing I know, I'm being knocked out and wake up with pieces missing. I figure I know what it's like to get married now. I just got screwed out of the honeymoon.

Back on subject, of course I carry a knife at home. Why wouldn't I? If I don't I quickly remember just how many times a day I use one.

OK ... so what do knife-knut nudists (and would they be knudists, BTW???) do?
Baldric carry.

Or just slip one in the top of my stockings or garter.

Duck tape:D.

I've thought about starting a thread about that... "How many times per day, do you use your EDC?"

"Use" meaning to perform some particular task... whether it's to cut open mail, or to clean under your thumbnail (as opposed to a lot of us who just pull them out to fondle 'em:D).

I've never actually counted how many times myself, but I've tried... darn thing is, I use mine so often that I forget to count sometimes... it's just so natural to use it, without even thinking about it!

After a bad automobile wreck in 1990 I was housebound for most of a year. I put a Spyderco Native in the pocket of my bathrobe back then and it is in there as I type right now. I put a Photon light on the lanyard along with a glow pull so it serves many purposes. That's right, it's almost noon and I'm still in my robe with a cup of coffee here in front of the computer!!

Usually, if what I am wearing has a pocket.... there is a knife in it or clipped to it.

You have a dozen knives in your top drawer, one on the coffee table and a few crappy ones in the junk drawer in the kitchen. Do you still feel the need to carry a knife around your house?

That's a great description. I was starting to feel that I was alone in my knife cluttered life. You left out the part where you go to do laundry and find a knife that you forgot that you even owned.

If I've just finished sharpening, I'll usually stick a mid-size folder in a pocket and carry it everywhere for a week or two..

my bedroom and my workshop are the only places that are mine in the house, i always carry a kershaw storm and a leatherman wave

I usually carry 1 knife and 1 flashlight with me when I'm at home. When I tell this to poeple, they usually laugh but walk away thinking they should do the same.:D

Inspirational and enlightening thread with many positive ideas and a few too revealing (eh Cpl.?) posts! :D

I always carry around the house.

A very positive around-the-house blade I've used is very economical, and a surprisingly excellent performer. When I use it, I'm almost embarassed because I'm fondling a ten-dollar knife instead of the extravagantly expensive knives in my collection. I'm talking about a Victorinox Gardener---lightweight, thin, a single, wonderfully efficient blade. It came with a great factory edge, and feels right at home tucked in my Smartwool sock or in the pocket of my lounge pants when I haven't gotten dressed yet.

I usually have my leatherman squirt with me as soon as I get pants on. I then decide if I need something more before I leave or find some task outside.

I always carry something, even in the house. Mostly an Otter, Leatherman or Victorinox, sometimes a Mora (which is awesome for firemaking as well as cutting food). Somehow, the Mora also makes me feel a little bit more secure, though I'm no martial artist and it's just a cheap utility knife. Well, some people feel comfortable to be naked at home, and some feel comfortable with a knife.

I almost always have at least one on me at home. About the only times I don't have one on me is showering or sleeping.:D

I always have at least one knife on me, even when I sleep. I even keep a fixed blade within arm's reach when I'm in the shower. Before I had a kid, I used to keep a gun within reach all the time when I was home. I can't do that safely anymore, unfortunately. But I'm never more than a couple steps away from a battle mistress or a safe. Even my office at work is fully stocked with sharp and pointy things.

I carry my little BM~Ally around the house the thing is so light I forget i have it on me. I will add I was a little aprehensive about the Ally a $25.00 knife but I have beat the crap out of it and it comes back for more.

Nope. When I get home everything comes out of my pockets.

I feel naked if I leave home without one, but why carry one at home when they're all right there just a few steps away. I will admit that if it's a new knife it gets carried around and played with for a few days until the newness wears off, but I don't feel compelled to drop a knife in my pocket just to lie on the couch watching TV.
