Does anyone EDC a fixed blade?

Bark River PSK in Natural Canvas Micarta in a leather sheath is in my work knapsack all the time. It's small enough to slip into a front pocket with no problem either.Just HAD to get rid of that revolting kydex sheath it came with.

Yah, I'm surprised how easily you can pocket a fixed blade. I like the idea as long as the handle is still a practicle size.

Do you guys have any suggestions for where to get a pocket sheath? Thought of trying to make one myself. Still might, but I want to see what is out there.

Thanks,

Bill

I always have a fixed blade in my backpack, lately it's a Bark River Sperati Point.

I also have a variety of small fixed blades I like to pocket carry, most of them are customs by Argentine makers. My most used are a Fallkniven WM1 (I'm thinking about replacing the crappy rubber handle with wood) and a Charles May FireAnt.

I have carried and used a Trace Rinaldi Matrix every day for over 3 years now , worn horizontal carry on the left side ( for right hand draw ).

About half the time I wear a fixed blade of some sort. I usually flip between a Buck mini-alpha hunter, and a Spyderco Perrin Street Beat.

The last couple of days has seen alot of kitchen duty...so my companion has been a BRKT Kitchen/Utility knife...This Thing cuts like a razor.

Due to the wide range of fixed blades (traditional as well as non-traditional), this thread will be better served in the "General Knife Discussion" forum. Carry on ladies and gents...

I really like a very small fixed over a folder, myself. My favorite is the Ed Chavar mini fang. I also am looking at the CRKT Minimalist, and my old Blackie Collins/Meyerco Buddy System still gets used a bit. Small fixed blades are just way handy to use, and no lock worries. I VERY rarely wish for a blade longer than about 3 inches. YMMV of course.

I carry a Bark River Pro Scalpel II prototype in the KSF pocket sheath linked to above. Works quite well for day-to-day cutting, and much easier to clean after I open up an orange with it than a folder would be.

I like a folder that clips to my pants as I have lots of other stuff deep in my pockets (cell, keys, etc). I do carry a fixed when hiking/camping.

Not on a regular basis. But, I've been experimenting (carrying one with me on short trips or around home) with FB carry; a Mini Canadian is the preferred one, now. The Becker Necker, Camillus Arc-lite and Tops Scalpel are great contenders.

I EDC my RAT Cutlery Izula quite often. It rides in my pocket as comfortably as a folder. Once in a while I'll EDC my Busse Model-T Street but it's really too large for the city or suburbs.

This Tom Krein Micro Chef is on my belt whenever and wherever I can carry it. At 6 7/8" it's a great size for EDC. With the small tek-lok I can clip it on my belt somewhere between 3 and 5 o'clock and with a jacket or shirt tails out it's pretty discreet.

Izula or RC3 are my no nonsense work knives that I am not afraid to USE.

Weekends if I am outdoors I'll carry an RC4 or RC3...or the Izula. Or a Hairy Carry.

If I am going out somewhere else I usually carry a folder, but sometimes I take a Busse Bear Cub in a Buy Brown kydex sheath tucked into the 5th pocket of my jeans as well.

And I always have a SAK.

rc-3 either tucked in my waist in my man-purse or in an underarm rig is becomeing my usual edc folding knives have fallen out of favor with me as of late all except my beloved emerson karambit (seriously i love this knife like a child).

as long as u dont wave it around i wouldnt really bother myself with the exact law, ive had cops stop me and search me and never once have i had anything confiscated ((well one time but i actually had to go to the station so they took all of my stuff) if it doesnt look like your gang bangin or robbing people alot of cops are actually pretty easy going on this law.

I have been carrying a Pocket Filer made by Michael Morris. Great little knife...handy and sharp as all get out, good looking and easily carried in his kydex sheath in your front pocket.

Beautiful little knives and very reasonably priced.

I'm a long time FB ED carrier. I have a number of knives I carry in pocket sheaths in my rear pocket. I've found some great knives that made to be EDC carries. Look into the Blind Horse Frontier First Patch knife and their custom pocket sheath. Look at Michael Morris' Profiler and Mini Profiler and JK hassome great small knives, as well. And I agree with jvan, and check out Will Leavitt. All of these are custom made knives.
